There is no good reason for US to avoid Vietnam anniversary

If you live in China for a year, you will never want to go back to Vietnam or go to other countries. (The premise is to put aside stubborn prejudice and nationalism and simply consider personal feelings.)
I went to HK, Macau. I planned to China but my spouse said no because you are communist. so not yet. and there is another thing
I have problem with chinese foods. actually Vietnamese have problem with. the daughter of my sister went to a college in Shanghai. she almost starved.

When is the parade for 1979 celestial defeat in Vietnam? :)

Chinese people today aren't really communists, at least not in the same way they were during Mao's Red China. If you grew up in the South before 1975, you would understand there's a real difference between Northerners from 1954 and those from 1975. The 1954 group had a much stronger and more resolute opposition to communism than most Southerners did, not counting the Viet Cong. And there were actually quite a few Vietnamese Chinese who served in the ARVN, even in units like the 81st airborne battalion.

China's food culture is very rich. The eating habits in different regions are completely different.
A simple concept of "Chinese food" is difficult to accurately express China's food culture.
In a large range, we usually divide "Chinese food" into eight major cuisines. But in fact, there are far more than these eight cuisines.
I am from Sichuan, and Sichuan cuisine is the main food. I feel that Shanghai cuisine is indeed not delicious. However, almost all the food in Chinese universities is served with national cuisine.
Your sister's daughter may be an exception. Now, China's catering takeaway industry is very developed. You can eat food of any cuisine at home.
The food culture of Vietnam is similar to that of Guangdong and Guangxi in China (except for the French cuisine left over from the colonial culture period of Vietnam).

It depends on how you understand "communism".

In the course of China's historical development, we welcome any foreign culture. However, we never copy any foreign culture. After all foreign cultures enter China, they will interact and merge with traditional Chinese culture, and eventually form a unique new culture with Chinese characteristics.

The most typical example: Buddhism.
It was introduced into China from ancient India and merged with traditional Chinese culture to form the new Chinese Buddhism. Chinese Buddhism, Chinese Taoism and other religious cultures of China merged to form the unique folk culture of China today.
And the current Vietnamese Buddhism is a mixture of Chinese Buddhism and Theravada (popular in Southeast Asia).
This is cultural evolution.

Chinese communist culture has also undergone a very complex evolution process. Among them, there are also many bloody and painful lessons. I will not repeat this process.

China’s current political system and political culture are very different from the original communist culture. This is an evolution based on China’s actual situation.

This is a cause for celebration for all the non-white non-european countries...This was the first time since the advent of colonialism that a nation of darker skinned people defeated not just a white nation but one that was biggest super power the world had ever seen....

Good on Vietnamese people their Chinese backers who supported them in this epic effort...

Yes I know chinese cuisine are vast. I came from Saigon but my family originally from Hanoi. we are much southerners. my sister’s daughter I mentioned attended the Shanghai college just for a semester as part of her study.
I like cuisines from Hainan especially chicken rice. my uncle came from there. also I like chinese cuisine from Singapore.
the problem is just if you go to Beijing, Shanghai or other parts of China you will get big difficulty to find what you can eat. we are much accustomed to viet or french diet.
There are some China hot pot restaurants in germany. I went once to one resto from Sichuan. the Chinese eat incredible amount of chilli.

Yes, China is no longer 'communist' but a single party authoritarian state.

In WW II, the US, the Soviet Union, and CHINA agreed that Indochina (Laos, Cambodia, and Viet Nam) would be under UN trusteeship towards independence.

Next...China betrayed that agreement.
