Don't get me started on "if Canada breaks into 13 different states" that would be a nightmare to even on how to settle the vote. But anyway, this is not going to happen, so I am not going to say anything else about it.Exactly right, it seems clear that he has no clue what he’s talking about—or perhaps this is just another distraction from his disastrous policies. While I’m not deeply immersed in Canadian politics, I do see parallels between the Canadian Conservatives and the Reaganite brand of the Republican Party, which is now almost extinct. Trump has transformed the GOP into a MAGA-driven entity, a stark departure from Reagan’s policies and ideals.
For fun, let’s imagine Canada becoming the 51st state of the United States. Currently, the 50 states divide up 435 congressional representatives. California, our largest state with over 39 million people, has 52 seats in the House of Representatives. Canada, with a population exceeding 40 million, would likely have more than 52 seats in the House, plus two Senators. Alternatively, if we consider Canada’s 13 provinces individually, the political landscape would become even more chaotic—especially for the Republican Party. Imagine the implications of that. Lol
Trump’s actions have had an unexpected ripple effect on Canadian politics, inadvertently giving the Liberals a much-needed boost. Across democracies, voter frustration often paves the way for opposition parties to seize power, and Canada seemed ready to follow this pattern. For much of last year, the Conservatives enjoyed a commanding 20-point lead in national polls, making their path to forming the next government appear all but certain.
Trump’s threats, tariffs, and his bizarre rhetoric about turning Canada into the 51st state have had unintended consequences. Thanks to his heavy-handed approach, the Liberals have narrowly secured victory in the election. Ironically, the very figure who transformed American conservatism into a MAGA-driven movement has inadvertently bolstered Canadian Liberals, helping them retain power.
Liberals owe a big thanks to Trump’s blabbermouth antics.
