On May 1, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz to exchange views on the current situation between Pakistan and India. Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dar and Minister Counselor Xu Hangtian of our Embassy were present.

rime Minister Shahbaz introduced the latest situation of the tension between Pakistan and India caused by the sudden incident in Kashmir, thanked China for its positive efforts to promote peace and stability in South Asia and ease tensions, reiterated that Pakistan will firmly defend its national sovereignty, security and dignity, and expressed its willingness to continue to communicate and coordinate with all parties to jointly prevent the escalation of the situation and maintain peace and tranquility in South Asia.

Jiang Zaidong thanked Prime Minister Shahbaz for his introduction and said that China understands Pakistan’s reasonable security concerns, supports Pakistan in safeguarding its sovereignty and security interests, supports an impartial investigation of the relevant incidents as soon as possible, and calls on India and Pakistan to exercise restraint, meet each other halfway, properly handle differences, and jointly maintain regional peace and stability.

We should remember that Israel tried to take out Pakistan's Nuclear program in the 80s. Gen Zia hinted at thwarting a planned attack, though specific details have never been given to hide sensitive details about how Pakistan found the plan and how it was countered. Israel's enmity to Pakistan goes a long way back. Lets not forget the Spice bombs back in 2019, too.
