you are entirely optimistic if you think less than 3 or even 10 IRGC will die from these strikes.

Time for speculation is over. Results will soon be come apparent.

You are also delusional if you think Iran hasn't moved its personnel in light of forewarning of where and where the strikes will be.

Yes I agree.

You know it was the military that presented him with the option to kill Soleimani, right? The only thing he did was to call our bluff and authorise the attack. Something no US president had done before.

That's the kind of tinfoilhattery which I won't even entertain. Iran called Trumps bluff by retaliating and showing his threats of obliteration are just hot air. What? US killed many Iranian soldiers in the Tanker war!

Well if we assume that Iran and Trump discussed and agreed on a respose for Soleimani assassination, we could also say that Trump showed weakness and allowed Iran to save face by striking Ain Al Assad, despite all the hot air coming from Trump leading up to the strike about obliterating Iran if it responsed.
Also there was a great deal of confidence on both sides in regards to the missiles and their ability to strike exactly where they were supposed to. Assuming there was collusion between the two sides, is it possible the missiles were homing in on some sort of beacons left in the hangars to make sure they didn't hit anything else?

Either way, US soldiers were permanently scarred from that or even worse, if we want to assume even further. So why go through the trouble of colluding when many people still got hurt and Trump was left with egg on his face as a hot air balloon who didnt back up his threats?

However I find it hard to understand why there would be collusion to the extent that Iran would offer Soleimani to Trump for nothing in return. I know Rohani was naive but I dont think he was this stupid to allow this or even if Khamenei or IRGC would allow this. Hence why I think it's all tinfoilhattery which tends to get parroted by the Omid Danas and Shahis of the Iranians living abroad who come up with this, fuelled by Akhoond-derangement syndrome.

IRGC 1) damaged relations with Pakistan, 2) damaged Iranian sovereignty by inviting and tolerating Pakistani airstrikes inside Iranian territory, 3) killed Pakistani children, 4) potentially suffered and tolerated the killing of Iranian civilians by Pakistan in response and 5) destroyed IRGC/Iran's credibility by undermining everything they ever said about our red line being attacks on our territory as a lie

I wonder what the next move in their masterplan is

Could it be that lack of education, socioeconomic opportunities, and rights have fueled terrorism in the region or reduced effectiveness of COIN in the region? This could be a factor as well. My bad for quoting an old post but I noticed it just now and had a point in mind. People are more likely to be misused when they do not have much to begin with.

No.

Most of the forces were evacuated by plane and some were literally parked in humvees outside the base as footage showed. The rest were in bomb shelter bunkers. There was a token force stationed at guard towers in case Iraqi militias did a land assault after.

It was just dumb luck and extensive preparations to minimize the amount of forces outside the bunkers but still on the base.

Base itself is huge as well.

US didn't even move yet and Iran already backed down and ordered Iraqi Resistance to publicly promise not to attack US bases any more. every time I think IRI cannot be any more afraid of war with Israel or USA they surprise me
Caution, this ‘flex’ will put the US in a bind further. Actually very smart.

Wether we agree with it or not. Iran’s philosophy is war of attrition.

Why anyone would think that Iran wants war is crazy.

1) The ruling party wants to stay in power

2) War solves nothing for Iran other than both sides walking away with bruises and in case of Iran it will be it’s homeland while US soil stays untouched

3) Iran has been growing in power since 2000

It is not the time for such a war. Miscalculation is possible by a Trump like US President one day, but till that day Iran will remain defensive and at times that means appearing “weak”. Same way US tolerated 165 attacks by Iranian backed miltias without any significant response.

Everyone should look at Ukraine to see what can happen to a large military power (Russia) against the full backing of NATO.

Russia has not fired one bullet towards NATO forces even though they have supplied arms that have caused tens of thousands of casualties. Meanwhile everyone wants US to strike Iranian soil because they gave 1 drone to a group who conducted attacks that resulted in a few casualties. Irony at its finest.

The situation now is different from 2020. America and Israel crossed the red line and killed 30 thousand civilians in Gaza. Iran is ready for conflict with America and Israel

They had plenty of time to join since 10/7. Especially since our FM made a fool of us with all his cryptic warnings and statements in the weeks that followed.

Meanwhile everyday more Gaza people die due to genocide while the world and more importantly Muslim world mostly watches.

@Mehdipersian I feel like this person also is one of those who likes to blame Iran no matter what it does. He will complain when Iran is trying to be cautious against a nuclear genocidal power but will also 100% complain if Iran did anything careless that jeprodised Iran's safety. Also note the reference to ancient Persia in their name.

The decisions that are made will always have opposition . This is a natural thing. I believe in Iran's leadership. He has made the right decisions so far. But others may not accept it, whatever the reason, it doesn't matter.
