Sharmaji, I think listening to some the retired generals on our TV channels,. The Hindi channels like Sudarshan TV and ABP are particularly well focused. A war is very likely. A VERY different war !
-Unlike previous conflicts ( excluding the 1971 war) which were over territory, primarily Kashmir, this war has a more ideological and religious context and is being viewed back home as the chance at the 1000 year revenge.
-This war is very different from the China-India war or India's intervention war within Sri Lanka, It is not just a war on the frontline for recovery of claimed territory but the destruction and depopulation of first the territory of what is now Pakistan and then Bangladesh. The war in a sense is for territory but not just the "disputed territory " but the territory of old "India" without the population
- The war as is being viewed in India is a "Final Conflict " with far reaching consequences of the geo- political structure of the subcontinent and the establishment of a theocratic state in India. The sidenote of this war is also the elimination of the mlech ( foreign) population inside India
