It seems our nuclear weapons are only for weddings

You are talking about nuclear weapons like these are fire crackers. Do you know what will happen when a nuclear weapon is used. Today's nuke weapon will not result in annihilation of a city like happened to Hiroshima and Nagasaki, it will cause nuclear fallout which will cause disaster covering hundreds of thousand square miles. Apart from several million immediate deaths, the area will become unfit for living things to survive in normal form. If two states having nuclear arsenal used there weapons on each other than there is a possibility that humankind habitating on this earth will be surviving underground or in some safe heaven patches.
USA used it because they were not fully aware of repurcasion and fortunately Japan do not process nuclear arsenal at that time.
Nuclear weapon can and should be used as deterrence against aggression otherwise be prepared for extinction of human world.
