Pakistan’s decisive triumph in the recent military confrontation with India has sparked a wave of celebrations all across the country. Friday was officially observed as Yum-e-Tashakur (Thanksgiving Day) to honour the armed forces and the people for the victory in Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos.

While national pride is a natural response to battlefield success over a bullying arch rival, it would be unwise to view it as a conclusive victory. Considering the mindset of India’s Hindu nationalist Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this could be a moment of calm before another flare-up.

Modi who started off as a card-carrying member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), fountainhead of the far-right wing Hindu nationalist ideology, Hindutva, has risen to power building his image as strong uncompromising leader ready to take on Pakistan at the slightest hint of a real or perceived provocation.

Under him came the 2016 “surgical strikes” across the Line of Control following the Uri incident, and later in 2019 Balakot air strike to ‘avenge’ Pulwama attack – a false flag operation. That led to the downing of an Indian jet and capture of its pilot by Pakistan.

At the time, Modi had publically expressed the lament that had India acquired Rafael combat jets from France, the “result would have been different.” He used the April 22 horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam area of the illegally Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir to unleash an assortment of India’s air power, including Rafael fighter jets, to “teach Pakistan a lesson”, but ended up losing six jets, among them at least three Rafael planes, shattering Modi and his RSS acolytes’ dream to see India emerge as a regional hegemon.

Instead, New Delhi sought Washington’s intervention, say reports, to secure a ceasefire. This happened at a time the Modi government was preparing for three major events: his own 75th birthday come September (not too long ago, he had denied a party ticket to veteran BJP leader L.K. Advani at the same point in life); Behar state elections in October; and start of the RSS’ centenary celebrations the same month, which he had wanted to mark by establishing India’s military superiority over Pakistan.

Despite agreeing to a ceasefire, Modi is still talking of a ‘new normal’, describing it as swift retaliation and escalation dominance. Given the chinks the short conflict has exposed in India’s military preparedness, the ‘new normal’ can have a rest, at least for now.

But the Modi government cannot afford to be seen as weak or indecisive. Faced with domestic pressure and international embarrassment, it needs to satisfy the desire for revenge. It could react in different forms such as covert operations, cyber-attacks, and hybrid warfare. The challenge for this side therefore is to effectively deflect and defeat any such escalatory moves.

Indians have regrouped. The time for such guided as ceasefire was enough. Infantry units deployed across the working boundary. Plenty of equipment from UK Israel and Yankees. They'll launch BM and CM missile barrages, forward strike corps and IAF fighters. Concurrently the IN will block the PN and trade routes confiscating Pakistan further. Squeezing us by sheer numbers.

I hope the higherups are not busy in chest thumping and self fellatio or we are in deep shit.

No doubt you have to be ever vigilant & never complacent against an enemy like this but I respectfully disagree. Their AF has had sobering shock & will need substantial time to figure out how it all went so badly wrong & to get some confidence back. Without confident AF providing cover, Navy / Army of any nation can’t do jack in modern warfare. The ‘pause’ is only so that Modi can avoid awkward questions by saying that the operation is still ‘ongoing’ and give the perception that the final results aren’t in yet so don’t question the outcomes.

ISLAMABAD: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu during an official visit to Air Headquarters in Islamabad on Tuesday, the military's media wing reported.

During the meeting, both dignitaries engaged in a comprehensive and in-depth discussion covering a wide array of subjects, including corporate-level engagements, defence cooperation, and the evolving geostrategic environment in the region, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Emphasising the importance of cohesive and collaborative approaches in addressing emerging challenges, they highlighted the need to maintain peak operational readiness and ensure swift coordination amidst the prevailing regional security dynamics, the statement said.

The Air Chief warmly welcomed the distinguished guest and reiterated that Pakistan and China enjoy historic and time-tested relations rooted in mutual trust, strategic convergence, and shared aspirations for regional peace and stability.

Elhamdulillah! The Bharati top analysts are still blowing away the Pak retaliation, which has grounded her air force, like a leaf in the midst of a strong wind! Indeed their hearts are sealed, eyes are blinded and ears are deafened by none other than HIM....

This US trained academician thinks, if a nuclear exchange occurs, only a couple of Bharati cities will be destroyed but entire Pakistan will be gone! The reality is they had to call, only after a couple of hours of Pak's punishment, almost all the capitals that matter to Pakistan! Such is the level of their denial....

Israel did not get as much involved in this conflict as I had really feared. Part of that was Pakistan didn't get too involved during the Israel-Gaza conflict. Pakistan's focus was, is, and will remain countering a powerful enemy to Pakistan's east and Israel, too, has many worries right now.
But you are right about the America connection if Israel would be involved. And so far, I don't see a reason to think Americans have tried to damage Pakistan through India in this conflict. On the contrary.

The Beni Israil are always after the Super Powers! They switched from the UK to the USA. Now that China is becoming a Super Power they'd drop Bharat like a tissue paper.....

Per one of latest videos by Pravin Swahney, Pakistan had greatly increased its diplomatic staff in last few years in Beijing with the specific purpose to ask war hardware and 'anything' Pakistan would need, would be given to Pakistan.
Not a huge surprise because Pakistan is also fighting China's war against India AND Pakistan may have just given the Chinese defense industry untold billions of $ in future contracts.
This conflict was like 'the Sputnik Moment' or 'the Deep Seek Moment' for Pak-China's defense alliance.
