Basically, if India can build enough strength with the Su-57, it won't matter if Pakistan has 40 to 50 J-35As, because the rest of Pakistan's fighter fleet would have to flee on sight.
...But then again, this would also be true for Indian legacy fighters, as they'd have to flee on sight of the J-35A. Having said that, India could end up with 2 or 3 Su57s for every 1 J-35A in PAF inventory.
India could also just buy on mass to outnumber Pakistani J-35As to offset the relatively worse capabilities that the Su57 has.
