The interview was on 11th. The reason which he gave on being non specific is that it is still an operational detail. Either they do not have enough information about what was hit or downed OR likely nothing was downed and perhaps only attempted by IAF.
Why so? Because likely IAF were not even preparing for an air to air warfare. I have said it before too. IAF platforms involved, specficially lack of AEW&C and electronic war fare platforms, suggests they never expected an air to air warfare.
@Vox Non Dei
Let's keep it simple. Let's start from the beginning, with the premise that Pakistan is lying, and everything the Indian spokespersons both official and non-official is completely true and verifiable.
So let's trash ALL Pakistani claims ( S-400, Rafale downed whatever) and concentrate only on statements by AVM Bharti and CDS Lt.General Chauhan..
Per Indian spokesperson AVM Bharti:
(May 11, 2025)
- On May 6th-7th 2025 India suffered zero damage with no losses during the operation
due to enemy action; though in there are "losses" in any operation (unspecified reasons, which could be accidents )
-India shot down "few" Pakistani "high tech" aircraft. No details can be provided since we are in a combat situation .
- India attacked and put out of action 9-11 Pakistani air bases.
-------------
May 29th, 2025
-The CDS Lt.Gen Anil Chauhan confirms AVM Bharti's statement that there were losses. Chauhan stresses the number of losses, or the losses themselves are irrelevant and the bigger question is why the losses occurred.
-Like AVM Bharti's May 11th statement Chauhan does not attribute losses to enemy action but mentions "tactical errors " which were rectified.
-CDS Lt.General Chauhan did not repeat AVM Bharti's claim of putting out of action Pakistani air bases.
-CDS Anil Chauhan did not confirm or deny that India was still in a combat situation, but claimed "rationality on both sides " (whatever that meant)
QUESTIONS:
1. Other nations provide basic information on losses during combat mentioning type of aircraft and reason for losses. (Example:
The USA accepted the loss of two F-18 Hornet fighter aircraft during launch from their aircraft carrier during operations against the Houthis in Yemen).
Why doesn't India provide more details?
2. Other nations provide details of losses inflicted on the enemy air forces during combat (
Example: Russia rewarded it's personnel with cash for downing a Ukrainian F-16 ) Previously in 2019 India announced the shooting down of a Pakistani F-16, and awarded Wing Comander Abhinandan the third highest gallantry award the Vir Chakra for the feat.
Why doesn't India similarly announce details of enemy aircraft shot down and honor and laude its air force or air defense personnel for shooting down enemy aircraft?
3. Other nations provide detailed assessments of damage inflicted on enemy bases usually confirming if the bases have been permanently put out of action or are likely inoperable for a long time. The USA doesn't rely on the New York Times to support evidence of its claims of the destruction of enemy air force assets. Example:
US airstrikes on Syria's Shariyat Air Base
Why does India rely on International sources to confirm the effectiveness of its air strikes?
