Are attack Helicopters relevant anymore in a war scenario? Maybe they have some utility against terrorists but in my opinion they have become obsolete in a Indo-Pak war scenario. In the price of pone decent attack heli you can probably build 500 drones / loitering munitions which will be more effective and cause more damage to the enemy then the heli.

Where are we using those helis? they might be a good choice against terrorists in the mountain regions.

I think it’s a hoax. It doesn’t make sense.
I also saw that on news, its not a hoax, we are already operating 4 of them acquired a couple of years back. they are a good option against terrorists in the mountain regions.

The PA has been pretty patient with its helicopter upgrade path. Perhaps they have been holding out for something like this.
Are helicopters even relevant in the new war concepts. they are expensive, vulnerable, and don't carry the punch. you can build 400~500 attack drones / loitering munitions in the same price and cause more damage to the enemy.

Everything is relevant, as long as you know how to employ & use the specific platform, everything has a role & place.

Attack helicopters are not going anywhere, they are a bullwark against built up & incoming enemy armour, potent systems if they are used well.

Think of it like an air defence system everything has its place from CIWS to HIMADS.

Pakistan should invest in the Turkish projects for heavy attack helicopters these would require some patience but will be well worth it.

Indian army & air force recently ordered 170 attack locally built helicopters which will enter service by the end of the decade. Whatever Pakistan is going for either Chinese or Turkish it should be localised.

IMHO Pakistan should be going for Turkish helos both for its light attack helo & heavy attack.

Top of the line Star Safire ..... we used them on specially equipped C-130's to route out the Talibs. That is how the tide turned in our War on Terror in North and South Waziristan.

The acquisition, training, installation and its operations/use is a story right out of a Tom Clancy novel!!
share the story if unclassified

There are rumor that Halted deal with USA may be resumed for A1Z1 attack copters and F-16 Block 70/72?
We may see something new Z10 ME soon this year. Hope for the best
F the US, why trust them again. The way geo politics is changing you can't wait another 3 years to get a big fat no.

Gunships are vital
Gunship plus Transport Units are also quite useful

To claim era of Helicopter has ended is not true

The deal done between Turkey-Pakistan for 36 Gunship I think was quite good deal , and we should also attain more Helicopter with transport capabilities
  • Carry Troops
  • Supplies
  • Act as Gunship against , Tanks and Military transport trucks or buildings
Multi Mission

A drone can't do following acts described below
  • Airlifts Injured units to safe zone
  • Supplying Ammo to critical areas
  • Supply water and food to certain areas
  • Supply Medics , or Medicine to war zone
  • Transport Troops to needed areas (Ordinary Soldiers)
  • Transport Special Commandos to Hot zones top of buildings

Drone and Helicopter Gunship can of course both target air to ground targets including Tanks

This sector of Pakistan Army does need attention

Turkey has many options maturing soon and China also has many options for Gunship

The TEI TS1400 turboshaft engine has entered serial production, removing past U.S. export restrictions on Turkish helicopters. This could revive Pakistan’s stalled T129 ATAK helicopter deal, which faced delays due to U.S. export restrictions. With Turkey now producing its own powerplant, Pakistan may reconsider the T129 instead of alternative options like the Chinese Z-10ME. Additionally, this development strengthens Turkey’s defense independence, allowing more flexibility in international exports.

Does anybody know when they will be received?
