Considering the Field Marshall is coming to the US, and Pakistan is still a major non-nato ally, Pakistan should be coming with a list of excess defense articles to procure. Amongst these, we should seek MRAPs with 20 mm gun system. MRAPs can be useful not only in the western provinces for COIN, but with decent gun systems can be used to shoot down small drones or mount heavy EW systems while providing some protection for the troops to loitering munitions.

Khalistan is tricky case in past when Indian army storm golden temple we can do same type of operation like India did but their are certain things that bother us since Sikhs want to revive their golden era of Ranjeet Singh and it is quite debatable that after getting independence from India they will not become hostile towards our Punjab to establish their lost glory.

Trump's repeated praise for the Pakistani nation and leadership really betrays a change of heart, for now at least; he has really gotten under India's skin. No Pakistani should be sad about that.

Very interesting trip! The same Americans who just a few years ago were calling Pakistani military all kind of names for assisting the Afghan Taliban against NATO are going to host a Pakistani 5 Star General.
This is going to hurt the Indian morale even more.

The ‘attention’ from the USA is always temporary and fleeting… does the establishment have the common sense to get things from the USA that will outlive trump ie be permanent like trading arrangements, technology restrictions removed, better access to payment providers to Pakistan etc…

Last thing Pakistan should be asking for is weapons that will only rust away…… I suspect the establishment are not particularly strategic in their relationship with the USA and will instead be happy with second hand weapons and be content with that. In that respect, India handles the good times with the USA better as they get long term economic integration and economic commitments from the USA, the generals in charge in Pakistan are happy with weapons that they need to pay top dollar for..

That is the problem with the relationship that is based via military men, it is all about military items. What is required is senior leadership engagement civilian to civilian leadership to formulate long term economic policy. Generals are not very good at that unfortunately..
