Which 48 interceptors would be enough to stop a wave of F-35s? And at what cost?
Iran should have invested in an ADS instead.
The plane on its own Is not everything
It's different systems working together
So why did PAF beat the IAF recently????
Because different systems Pakistan has worked together to create a formidable force even in the face of a on paper better plane and airforce
Even against superior numbers of more Indian jets, India left the battlefield with 6 planes lost and the IAF was grounded
Multiple ground radars
Multiple AWACS to give Pakistan aerial awareness, knowledge of enemy assets and where they are
Multiple ground and aerial EW assets
Experienced pilots and our own program to make them elite
A BVR capable of hitting the enemy
if Iran could build up its airforce going forward, it could go for similar options to Pakistan
J10C with PL15
Possible 5th Gen platform in J35 in future
Possible KAAN if relationship with Turkey is on good terms
And possible JF17 to add numbers
As long as you create a interlinked range of systems Including A.D what you are doing is making a hostile territory where your enemy either can't operate or wasted fuel and time and thus is forced to return
In the current conflict even if Iran has 200 JF17s armed with PL15s
They could prove useful as long as you had backup support via AWACS, ground radars, A.D
As soon as F35s were detected, you could send up JF17s,
You could fire BVRs at maximum range ie 200km
At incoming enemy jets, those jets will then be forced to either divert, or take the BVRs out
Once again wasting time and fuel they don't have
Air battles are won through tactics as much as they are through the machine
