It's more than being white. That's just a skin color that is very common among Muslims as well. It is the shared European/Christian heritage going back to the ancient Greeks, Romans, and then the age of Christianity.

Europeans have a glorious, shared history going back thousands of years and they have deep ties in ethnicity, religion, culture, art, architecture, etc. Russia has always aspired to be accepted by Western Europeans, but they always treat it with contempt. But Russia would still prefer to be a second-class citizen of the West rather than align with Muslims or Chinese. It’s in their blood.

By white i'm specifically referring to the European sense of whiteness that arose during the age of colonization and the era of scientific racism. I don't mean literal melanin concentration.

That's pretty useful indeed. I read a CNN report yesterday saying Iran is trying to reach/hack "Weapons Control Systems" around the cities of Israel. The 4th graphic really explains what's that about. Looks like if Iran hits one of them, it would disable multiple launchers. Should be a good single target to bring down a lot of systems instead of attacking them individiually.

Having light/white skin doesn't ingratiate one into being white European. A lot of arabs from Syria even Palestine have really light skin and blue eyes blond hair but are not considered white. Turks have always been portrayed as dark skinned hordes from ME/Asian when they are lighter than Greeks, yet Greeks are considered white Europeans.

The color divide is rooted in European racism and ethno-supremacy. Russia too suffers from it both as a purveyor and a victim of it. Its not white enough for western Europeans even though it is hell bent on being accepted one. Putin at one point had wanted to join NATO and EU but was rebuffed on both counts.

Fair enough. When people say 'white' they mean what you said--European/Christian. However, it does cause some confusion.

But, I think many Pakistanis won't accept having a Chinese base, and it's against Pakistani constitution to host foreign troops ?

China has a base in Djibouti. A base in the middle of the Persian gulf would be advantageous for China to maintain its SLOCs, and maintain its ships, military and civilian. Pakistan is not in immediate danger, especially not like Iran, that needs support ASAP, so a naval base in Pakistan is not necessary. A 10 year lease of a naval base by Iran to China could be within Chinese strategy if reflecting the Djibouti base. From the naval base on say Qeshm island could be viable, especially against attacks against Iran for the South and east. Iran would also need the PLAAF to provide air towards the west, and for that a PLAAF base would be necessary in the Zagros mountains.

But it definitely is a move that would raise the stakes for all actors and definitely would be a decision China would not take lightly.

That's a good point and touches on a much broader issue, which is that China needs to overcome centuries of social inertia to be accepted as a global power.

People around the world are used to seeing the US and Europe as global powers and this perception has been cemented over literally centuries of dominance. The global media still perpetuates this narrative and it remains true to a large extent.

Chinese technology and military power may have matched the West but the global public doesn't look at China or a Chinese person the same way they look at a Westerner. Lots of things are subconscious and there is no way to speed things up. Some things just take time.

Beyond verbal / moral support china wont do anything in this conflict.

yes, saw a survey today that 71% of his MAGA base are against it. In every other case Trump seems pretty committed to his base. It was always said that the US support for Israel was based on the demands form their base.

Lets see what happens here, now that even the base is not supporting Israel. This conflict will show if the US politicians are loyal to their base of if they are indeed just serving Israel.
