Armament of the Russian Army

The Russian army has begun deploying the "Kalitka-KA" automated air defense system, designed to counter drones. Initial units have been spotted mounted on towers in the Moscow region, as well as on vehicles. The "Kalitka-KA" system is intended to protect facilities from drone strikes, including certain types of jet-powered drones. It engages targets using a 7.62mm PKT machine gun and incorporates an electro-optical detection unit along with a turret control module. When integrated with a radar system, the complex can engage targets automatically, with the operator simply issuing the command to fire. The system is available in both stationary and mobile configurations—the latter can be mounted on vehicles such as pickup trucks. Its effectiveness against combat drones ranges from 70% to 100%, depending on the type of target. Approximately 10 rounds are expended per target, and the system has an estimated engagement range of about one kilometer.
