This isn't new. Light weapons have always been smuggled across Iran. It's a major transit hub for weapons smuggled and has been for decades because of the mountainous nature of the country makes it nearly impossible for even Iranian authorities to keep track effectively.

Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan are all major hubs of arms smuggling, and there really isn't much any of these nations can do about it currently.

What Iran has done with its border with Afghanistan should be done as well with its border with Iraq, Turkey, Azergayjan and turkmenistan
