Frustrated Google employee wants to quit as half of his teammates are Indians

Name brand degree is still useful.

A local college degree will get you an interview in the area or state but a degree from Ivy League or similar will get you an interview anywhere in the country.

But it only matters for the first job. After that, employers focus more on experience.

A name brand is still useful many years after graduation, it is not always about work experience. An academically challenging institution with a challenging degree is an indication raw academic ability to demonstrate the ability to learn and demonstrate that outside of the randomness of professional careers and work experience. That raw ability never goes away. A first from a redbrick in the UK(ie Ivy League) is worth more than than the same from one of the former polytechnics here in the UK, to see the potential of an individual and help forms an overall picture of the individual.

Actually, to wean us away from the " Venkys," we did consider offloading to Pakistan, Argentina, South Africa and some Eastern European countries eventually choosing Romania over the Czech Republic . This allowed us to cut the engineering hours allocated to TCS, L & T by 50% and we sent 11 contractors home.

Fun fact:
The Pakistanis are heavily utilized by the China, Turkey and their own defense sector and have very little spare capacity for outsourcing. Pakistanis are not into Donkey Keyboard coolie work but genuine innovation geared 90% to their defense and aerospace sector.
Lol. Was exporting donkeys to china is one of key contribution of Pakistan to china tech sector innovation now?

You are speaking as if you are authority who knows everything about IT in India. Lol.
I know a lot more about your Cybercity, Orbis Mall and the Rs.75 Sambhar Rice meal packages delivered to your sweltering BOP outfits with C3 "techies" packed into 3ft x 2 ft workstations than you think
Then STFU about the process loopholes. You have no control on what the company decide because they know your opinion is irrelevant and faulty.
Actually based on my opinion ( since I hired trained and inducted the non-C3s out of Kondapur ) we were able to cut outsourcing engineering hours by 60% and divert about half the remaining hours to Romania. We also sent 11 rolling 3 month rotating "on training " contractors home. We fired another 3 , senior H1 techies because of ethical concerns.

And your rants about telugu people hating other south Indians and north indians. I am a telugu andhra guy living in US for 20 years. Don't tell me that you know us better than than I. And we absolutely don't hate others. We all are Indians afterall. Hating your own countrymen is reserved for other south asian country men.
I know Telugu people INSIDE Telegana and Andhra and there isn't much love lost in the Cybercity Gacchibawli BOP establishments between Telugu and the other peoples, often breaking out into brawls in the scooter parking lots. The hatred for Rajasthani, Haryanvi, and Biharis is particularly intense.
When I hear shouts of "nee puklo na modda " in the scooter parking lot I know the muck has hit the fan

Exporting DUNKEES back to Amritsar in India in handcuffs is a better option. Great home coming for techies

@krash
I see we’ve moved from serious discussion to bedtime stories from your Chinese pals. Let me know when they start quoting fortune cookies on engineering too. Just having an engineering-related job must put you in the top 1% of Pakistanis, quite the achievement!
I see you have moved from an intelligent fact based discussion to personal jeers and insults.
I have worked in the Middle East on assignment and 99% of the unskilled laborers on my project under me were Indians, mostly from Kerala and Andhra,
As a young Project Engineer from Pakistan I felt rather good about my 1% status. For the record I was kind to them including my janitor in my office washroom who did a superb job.

Pakistanis are now talking for Indians. Lol. You should bring some Pakistani innovation talent to your company from China. Why Romania? Lol.

Lol. What crass people have you met in the 10 days you were there in India. For you to learn the abuse rather than the good things in the host country speaks of what your mindset is from the beginning. Now STFU. You know nothing about India and telugu people.

You are probably a mid level manager somewhere working under the same Indians (probably telugu), who is ranting out of frustration. Lol.
I have never worked under an Indian boss. All my supervisors have been white Americans and when I started my career in Pakistan my boss was a refined Parsi gentleman.
I have no bias towards Telugu people. You have all the normal attributes that any ethnic group will have. I am intrigued about how you fight with each other, even self-immolating to divide your province into Andhra and Telangana, I had an unpleasant experience in Hyderabad when the division was underway when the route to the airport was blocked.

Funny that this decadent 'Western culture' has created the industrial revolution, the information technology revolution, the biotech revolution, and all this latest tech, has gone to the Moon and Mars and beyond while the genuis superpower countries of South Asia have done f--- all.
Wrong…. You are under influence of propaganda … i don’t want to go into long discussions go find our yourself what we have made…. And contributed..

Anyway US firms profit making over their nation :cautious:. At least many Americans are waking up.
For years, people demanded high wages and cheap goods and services.

Outsourcing and offshoring of jobs gave them their cheap goods and services.

May I ask you to read the thread title again. This is not about personal experiences however lacking and uninformed they are, especially when they are based some fleeting experiences you had in Hyderabad. Don't go informing me of incidents of recognition just to impress me of your knowledge of telugu people. At least if you ponder the reason behind your visit to Hyderabad India and not Hyderbad Pakistan and you will understand that the companies do really value Indians and their contributiions. Pontifications from a pakistani are irrelevant.
