If we can get most of our vipers upgraded under those funds and possibly get more airframes then it's worth it. Helps us maintain our numbers, have a qualitative edge and also replace legacy fighters.

Main issue is the end user agreement. If it can be revised to our advantage, then it's totally worth it

thanks for reminding me that PAF on few occasions was prevented even from participating in Red flag and now fancying the chance of F-16 Block 70 just because a Transactional president in America likes our rare earth resources but he can contradict and take a U turn in the same sitting.

True, in theory though no foreign supplier is 100% assured. Granted it is a risk, but then US has risk of needing rare earth on a long term basis no?

Yep, AIM120-D should be pre-condition for any F-16 deal. Otherwise no matter how amazing the machine is, it will be toothless in today's age of long range BVRs.

BTW, what are the chances that US could hint such things purposely to twist india's arm that either you buy our fighter jets OR we will sell advance weapons to Pak.

F-16V or the 120 D doesn't provide us with any capability we don't already have, it isn't some game changer that will shift the balance of power so much that India will be forced to buy American fighters.

Could be true, considering they don't add any additional capability the J-10C already provides
