DAMASCUS, Syria — British Foreign Secretary David Lammy meets in Damascus with Syria’s interim President Ahmad al-Sharaa to discuss boosting cooperation, after the UK began lifting sanctions against Syria.

Syria has been improving relations with Western countries following the fall of President Bashar Assad in December in an offensive led by al-Sharaa’s Hayat Tahrir al-Sham Islamist group.

Al-Sharaa’s office says Lammy and the president discussed mutual relations and ways of boosting cooperation and the latest regional and international developments. Lammy later met his Syrian counterpart, Asaad al-Shibani, state media reports.

In April, the British government lifted sanctions against a dozen Syrian entities, including government departments and media outlets, to help the country rebuild after Assad’s ouster. Weeks earlier, the UK had dropped sanctions against two dozen Syrian businesses, mostly banks and oil companies.

Earlier this week, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order ending many American economic sanctions on Syria, following through on a promise he made to al-Sharaa.

The conflict in Syria, as I've repeatedly stated, persists and has now reached a new escalation.

Hussein al-Salama(ho used NICKNAME Abu Musab Al Shuhayl), head of the Syrian regime's General Intelligence Service (Golani branch), was killed days ago in a (probably) Russian airstrike in Damascus. Golani and his officials are concealing this information.

SOHR (Syrian Observatory for Human Rights) now corroborates with earlier claims: Hussein al-Salama(Abu Musab), the regime's intelligence chief, was targeted and is critically wounded. While Golani's circle obscures the truth, SOHR asserts the explosion stemmed from internal regime clashes.

The difference is that they claim it was "internal infighting," while other sources assert it was Russian forces who killed him.
Other versions say that Israel killed him.

NOTE : Any of these options shows that the chaos in Syria continues and has now reached an even greater level and the media is hiding these new events.

Is this some post from 2017.

Russia has no military mandate in Syria anymore..

Lmao I tried to find the article it doesn´t even exist. This is some AI mixed up news I believe from 2017 and other stuff combined

Look at this face.
15 years spent in Bush's "War on Terror" and this is where Americans,British and Germans are now. Shaking hands with the extremist salafis they had been fighting since 2001. Two terms of Bush's administration and one of Obama and this is where they are. Thousands of soldiers' lives, billions of dollars in equipment, hundreds of thousands of civilian lives....and they hold hands with the extremists they were supposed to eradicate. All because "Assad dictator".

My friend , SOHR (Syrian Observatory for Human Rights) said this same information. When we talk about the possibility that it was Russia, we are not talking about a mandate there but about an act of military strategy as well as the great possibility that it was Israel. But if it was Israel, it's even worse because Israel is already starting to eliminate its own puppets, and the time of Joolani and Erdogan will come where they will be used and thrown in the TRASH.

Lmao I was correct.. Dude why don´t you just give us the link? Also you have changed headline of the article and some of the words in it? LMAO plus content of the article

I found the article in English and I was correct you hide the content or the link so that you can add your own delusions into the article. There is no mention of Russia which is your own addition plus this was IED attack. Plus you changed the headline. If this is not ban worthy I don´t know what is.

No, i didn't change anything. I posted versions of how this could be happened: some say it was Russia, others say it was "Israel" and others say it was "an internal fight": I posted about all of this. But the fact is that this event HAPPENED and that the person hit is actually the person I mentioned before.

Brigadier General Riad Hamdo al-Shahada, the former head of the Political Security Branch in Damascus was arrested by Syrian security forces

Syrian security forces arrested Brigadier General Riad Hamdo al-Shahada, the former head of the Political Security Branch in Damascus, in the Talkakh area of the Homs countryside, in a precise security operation. Who is Brigadier General Riad Hamdo al-Shahada?

Who is Riad Hamdo al-Shahada?

A statement issued by the Syrian Ministry of Interior stated that Brigadier General Riad Hamdo al-Shahada held several positions during the former Syrian regime within the Political Security Department in several Syrian governorates, the last of which was head of the Political Security Branch in Damascus.

The statement added that Brigadier General al-Shahada is implicated in war crimes against the Syrian people, including the liquidation of hundreds of dissidents, including women, in addition to arbitrary arrests carried out under his direct orders.

The statement indicated that the accused has been referred to the relevant investigative authorities for legal action.

This operation comes hours after the arrest of Brigadier General Ammar Muhammad Ammar, a member of the State Security Service during the rule of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, in a security operation in Latakia Governorate.

The Syrian Ministry of Interior said in a statement that Ammar worked in the Khatib branch of the State Security Service.

It added, “The criminal is considered one of those involved in systematic violations against Syrians within Branch 40, whose name has been associated for years with crimes of torture and enforced disappearance.”

Since the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime on December 8, Syrian security forces have arrested a large number of individuals involved in violations against opponents of the regime over the past decades.

The Syrian regime fell following a surprise attack led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) on cities controlled by the Assad regime. Ahmed al-Sharaa, known as Abu Muhammad al-Julani, subsequently assumed power.

UN and human rights reports revealed that the former regime committed widespread violations against Syrians opposed to Bashar al-Assad’s continued rule. Mass graves were discovered following the fall of the regime.
