IMO the greatest concern for Bharat isn't Pak's earning a billion bucks here and there. It's the Pak's becoming a vital pivot for the US power projection in the 21st century: be it minerals, shale hydrocarbons, connectivity with the CA or something else. It implies all the geostrategic complex equations, crafted over 45 years, are producing negative results for them.....

India is yet to make a deal. The 25% on India is without any trade deal. They are currently working on one. Which may end up with India only paying 20% or even less that too when it's major exports like mobile phones, laptops, electric appliances, and IT services are tariff free.

Yes, it is essentially assembling iPhones. An increasing number of Apple suppliers are moving to India to support the assembly line, though the chips are still imported. The hope is that the higher end parts of the supply chain will move to India over time, but it is just a hope as of now.

As of now, almost all of the exports out of India are to the US because of the China situation. Maybe with the UK FTA, some of them may end up in the UK, especially if India does not negotiate a better deal with the US.

Trump is not happy about any manufacturing outside the US, but how many American voters will be willing to pay 3-4 thousand dollars for a fully Made in America iPhone ?
