India - US Tariff and Relations | News + Updates

You guys are a young nation, still babes in the wood when it comes to power projection, your post is just a projection of yourself

Say what you want but iron sharpen iron... Pakistan has been through it for decades

And the polity seems to be savvy enough to know about the swings and roundabouts in global alignments

which is why you went to IMF dozens of times. I faled my exam 15 times so I'm better off because I know how exams work is not a real advantage

To be honest, I find it amusing when some Pakistani members criticize India for maintaining a neutral stance in global geopolitics.

The truth is, it's actually a tricky situation for Pakistan. They need more strategic space and often hope that India might align itself fully with the U.S. camp. That way, a clearer bloc could emerge—China, Russia, Iran, and Pakistan—which they believe would be beneficial for Pakistan's security and future influence.

But they don't understand the reality: while India has tensions with China, it has maintained a strong and historic relationship with Russia for decades. India isn’t going to abandon that relationship for anyone—not even for the U.S.

Western countries, especially the U.S., have long wanted India in their camp. But India won’t go fully in, nor will it go against Russia. At the same time, Russia wouldn’t want India to completely shift into the Western or U.S. bloc either.

So, the best strategy for India is to remain neutral—engaging with both sides, without becoming a part of any exclusive alliance.

Does the U.S. want India to join the Russian camp? No.

Does Russia want India to join the U.S. camp? Again, no.

So the conclusion? Trump might be upset… but India will just keep humming its own tune.

That's some seriously funny $hit. Send me whatever your smoking

I thought the oil was fictional, so Pakistan got a deal on fictional terms....

I can't see how dragging out negotiations is something to brag about

The USA will not support Indian growth, if the USA does not get something significant return

Let's see how long India lasts for, we forget trump has only been in power half a year 😀

Ideally Pakistan and India should be thinking along the lines of self-preservation

It is not intentional dragging of the negotiations. It is dragging because Indian is unable to agree to the terms being offered.

Many nations have panicked and signed the deal offered to them under duress and fear.

The negotiators have been at the job and many rounds have been held. The impasse is primarily over farm sector access. There could be some other issue too.
The farm sector in India is not the biggest one (as percentage of GDP) but the biggest employer.

Yes I understand, it was your colleague who thought it a brag to drag the negotiations out and seemingly annoy trump

The reality is that the Americans always held this card against India

Just like they knew they could psychologically manipulate India via Pakistan

from the American perspective, which we should indulg, they have supported India a great deal and given India preferential space in many arenas

This simply becomes a question of leverage and power, but let's be honest, do you really want to be seen as really taking trump on?

I've hardly seen any news coverage that does not simultaneously mention Pakistan's tariff deal....

It's starting to look like you have been psychologically finessed by the West, you just need to invoke Pakistan and your entire digital media and WhatsApp groups go ballistic

I rate them if they stand by Russia through all this.

For decades, the americans gave india a lot of support, investment and privileges in ALL fields for a REASON. Now the americans want returns for everything they have done for india. Trump wants his and america's dues. indians can't deliver on this and so trump and the americans are furious with the indians.

PS Did ANYONE EVER believe that the indians could take on the Chinese and be a bulwark against the Chinese on behalf of the americans and the west?........... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Pakistan has been through it for decades
Yes, we know how the SEATO and CENTO membership helped Pakistan in the defence of Dhaka, how Pakistan was treated by Clinton after the Mujahidin drove the Soviets out of Afghanistan, how Bush threatened to bomb Pakistan back into the Stone Age, how Raymond Davies murdered Pakistanis in cold blood and got away after paying blood money, how Pakistan handed over Afia Siddique to the Americans, how Navy Seals violated Pakistani airspace, killed OBL in the heart of a garrison town and walked away without the PAF being able to do anything about it, and how Trump withheld billions of dollars in CSF for services Pakistan had already rendered. The list of what Pakistan has been through is endless.

Yet Pakistan still come out on top and in May 2025, militarily defeated a nation that is more than 7× bigger than Pakistan and that has the FULL BACKING of america, the west, israel and Russia.........
