For 3 decades they failed to shed weight from G-3 platform. Ironically enough POF G-3M weighs more than a standard G-3 + Optic and IR device combined.
They slapped some picatinny and called it a day. What am I going to with picatinny when army don't even trust their infantrymen with optics. Even If I get issued an optic I can just use clamp mount on the receiver no extra weight.
Couldn't even improve reliability of Type-56-II platform let alone modernize it. Can't blame POF too here. Army's definition of modernized AK platform is JB Welded rail section on top of loose receiver doesn't matter if zero of optic is retained or not.
They need to start working on a TOT from 3rd parties. Work with Norwegians for For modernizing G-3. Take Norwegian AG3F2 as a benchmark. If not Norwegians go to HK they still produce G-3 Accessories under HK Parts.
For their AK's no better option then Russia. Many companies make accessories for Russian SF community AK's e.g KPYK, Tual, Izmash, Zenitco(Top Tier).
Optics are dirt cheap now, Chinese make real good optics. Best optic manufacturer out of China is Holosun. Believe it or not I've seen US Army 10th Special Forces Group members use Holosun optics on their firearms. Won't hurt to partner with Holosun to supply Optics, Lights IR Devices at least for our SOF community.
Coming to personal gear, Pakistani companies e.g POF/GIDS Couldn't even produce a decent plate carrier, it's really not that hard. Do what Russians did. Russian gear companies took examples from leading gear manufacturer Crye Precision in the US and made Repros of their popular PC's like JPC and AVS at fraction of cost. They are identical in quality.
Many small companies in Russia like ARS ARMA, ANA Tactical, Wartech sell same stuff to Gear enthusiast in US which Russian SOF use.
Many of Russian companies I mentioned are small, they would love to work with big trade deal with a foreign customer based on TOT.
