PAF F-16 | Discussions

F16 will become second line of defense.. most probably will be limited in defensive role..

Offensive role will be J10CE as primary. additional JF17 B3 in supportive as secondary..

Till J35 and KAAN combo take over
Given the recent "interest based (minerals, hydrocarbons, access to the CA bypassing Russia, deterring the Hindutva extremism in Bharat etc.)" bonhomie b/w the USA and Pakistan, the PAF may have no choice but to maintain the F16 fleet, albeit with all the updates permissible. As for the finances, I am pretty sure they'll be able to chalk it out...

What if they go for Super Sukhoi upgrade?
Please disregard my last due to my lack of knowledge R37-M is integrated on Russian SU-30SM. But again Russia may or may not sell their top tiered missile to India unless they commit to Russia on major defence deals.

After Super Sukhoi upgrade Su-30MKI will be a Russian airframe with Israeli tech. I doubt they'll go to Russia after that. Most likely they're going to choose Israeli option and their own Astra mk3 is in pipeline

The Polish Defense Minister Wladysław Kosiniak-Kamysz has signed a deal worth $3.8 billion for the MLU of the Polish Air Force's F-16 fleet. As part of the deal, all 48 F-16C/D Block 52+ jets currently in service will be upgraded to the F-16V Block 72 standard.
That comes down to almost 90 mil per ac.
So my original estimate of 100 million was right!

The $80-100 million F-16 upgrades to Block72 is too expensive for Pakistan Airforce. Better to buy new J-10C and 5th gen J-35C.

Some really good discussion on F16s in the Quwa's latest podcast on Z10ME. I am loving the work they are putting out for free. I hope our people in armed forces are listening to it as well.

The first of two F-16As and four F-16B were flown to Sargodha by the six pioneers, with a young Squadron Leader Shahid Lateef (retd as Vice Chief of the Air Staff, PAF) grabbing the media's spotlight by landing the first F-16B (serial# 82602) aircraft. The first unit to re-equip with the F-16 in January 1983 was Sargodha based No. 11 'Arrows' Squadron, which by now was under the command of one of the six pioneers - Wing Commander Shahid Javed.

whoever owns that coin, clean it dude.
Do we have similar coins for Jf17 and J10 inductions?
It would great to have a full collection for all platform inductions since freedom

But one does not even exist and we are already adding it to India's inventory. Like they do with their own projects

The product exists, the Meteor. Range addition isn't exactly rocket science if the Radar supports it, which we know it does.

India since May has been telling France that Meteor MUST be at the same level as the PL-15, otherwise why buy Rafale? If the deterrence is already destroyed and will be taken down again, why spend billions of dollars? So the French will add more range and may or may not even announce it.

It is India's strategic needs to re-establish range related deterrence. Otherwise spending billions and getting another 100 Rafales is useless as PL-15 has a near 50 KM range advantage over Rafale and it will eat Rafales alive. Indians aren't that stupid.
