I'm glad you posted those....I wanted to lay bare the difference of you guys spouting inaptitude of Iranians.....in short, your evidence is thin.

Easy... Both camps are in the extreme. So much conjecture and not enough substance. I like discussing strategy, I don't like to wallow in the same old same old. I'm here to see if we can do things differently. Obviously there are people inside the government reading these forms. Hopefully with some of our discussions they may be able to approach things a bit more competently.

Sometimes I wish that were true, but I doubt that it is.

First of all, I'm sure there are many highly-intelligent people in Iran that are willing to work with the system, but they're not being let in to do so. The system has its own weird hiring requirements that block many patriotic Iranians from contributing to the country.

Secondly, I think the system doesn't want to do things differently. I'm sure a lot of people inside the system know everything we say, and obviously, they know everything better than us because they have access to classified information. Yet, the system seems reluctant to change in any direction. The system seems lazy, crippled and willing to keep the status quo until the end. They just want to stay passive and fill their pockets as long as they can before it's over.

I'm still willing to wait for 2 more weeks to see what will happen, but with every passing day, my hope for change is getting gloomier.

Not really. That's the problem with authoritarian systems. They rarely care about raising a replacement, as they want to hold onto power until the very last moment.

Someone like Saeed Mohammad perhaps.

Didn't they stab him in the back last time? The Guardian Council rejected his candidacy. I remember Omid Dana was so excited about this dude to the point that he event went on as far as saying that he was certain that he would be the president.

They're dealing with two nuclear powers while having no nukes, no air force and no IADS. Normally, under conditions like this, where one side is significantly stronger than the other, the weaker side either goes for nuclear deterrence (like North Korea did), or surrender. It seems that they're preparing for the latter.

So short sighted. Don't they understand that having competent generals is the requisite to allowing them to stay in power. You can have someone at face value be the most loyal looking servant, and then they sh*t the bed in a crisis situation, leading to your downfall.

Or worse. They sell out completely. Assad had high ranking generals completely sell out. You can never know how loyal someone is, even if you hand pick them; not when Mossad is threatening their families.

He is still a brigadier general. Keep him as a military man and let him implement his vision.
