I noticed that in the news of 2 and 3 star appintments, many more from non F-16 background and more from from Engineering branch too

Yes - majority hot seats are occupied by people from non-F16.

Every branch have their own key appointments. A pilot can not be made DCAS Engg - Similarly appointments at Engineering depos can not be handed over to pilots.

Having said that - still most of key appointments are occupied by GDP branch - for example, DCAS Air Defence is a pilot - not from Air Defence branch - DG Security is a pilot - DCAS Admin is a pilot - DCAS Support is a pilot etc.

Now given the expansion of air force with alot of new systems being inducted - ofcourse there would be new appointments being created and engineering branch has a huge and expanded role to play.

I wouldn't be surprised at all - Like any other AAM - PL-15 didn't have 100% success rate.

I don't think any AAM can claim 100% success rate, but Indians are their own worse enemies, they made claims which makes them laughing stock for the world.

This is it, we are blessed with an enemy who knows almost nothing about modern PR or information warfare.

They should have made one story, presented even some half arsed evidencem then stuck with it and repeated it consistently.

Credit here to PAF, at the very first presser, hours after the clash,, they stuck with 6-0 and the Rafale kills. the only thing that seemed to be in dispute (from PAF perspective) was 3 Rafales down or 4.

The messaging, along with the PAF spokesman (man he exuded confidence as if his very mission in life was to do that press conference) was textbook.

Now compare that to India. There is probably not a single Indian who knows the latest claims or all the past Indian claims. In a deliberate attempt to fool the world they have fooled themselves. 3-4 different stories on what got shot down, why it got down, what was bombed, then what was not bombed, political restrain, military restraint, Trump talks, no Trump talks, not a glass shattered to posthemous medals.

From 2019, PAFG knew it would be fighting an information war as soon as the first missile was fired. Even in that war....it was still 6-0!

In PAF - GDP branch in general has a superiority complex over all other branches. Among the GDP race - Viper pilots have their own superiority complex and consider themselves as the best and most deserving for top tier appointments. However, the may events have surely dented this sense of superiority among viper pilots.

One of the many reasons current CAS is not favorite of officers from F-16 background. Infact, Sidhu shb have promoted and filled many key appointments at AHQ with people from Mirage background - Sidhu shb himself is from Mirage background.

What I understand is that delta's are getting all the love now...

Naturally, and any sensible person would not expect 100% results from a any platform, however for me... the better the results... it's acceptable.

It never said it was a different Rafale, by returning back safely also means, piloting the aircraft toa secure area and ejecting over friendly territory close to a base.

Anyways Avions Leegndaries itself has reported that only one Rafale single seater was lost.

Does losing a single aircraft forces any airforce to be grounded for two days, i mean losing one or two aircraft wouldn't even effect Somalian Airforce let alone 4th largest airarm in the world.

i know but professional rivalry is something that we cannot ignore. every fighter wants to prove that his machine is the best

Makes sense. For a reason the Pak side isn't claiming too much. In one hand you have Rafale: earmarked to carry nukes against Russia on behalf of the Western Europe; on the other hand you have S-400, Su-30 & Mig-29: the Russian work horses. Pakistan is duty bound to keep the balance....
