India - US Tariff and Relations | News + Updates

Both you guys celebrating a diplomatic own goal?

Carry on!
It's not own goal for india, we are only celebrating that india not ready surrender to USA.

It doesn't matter Modi or no modi, even if Rahul was the PM and acting this way, I would be supporting to him, even I don't like him at all because it's about our national interests

50% Tariffs thanks to Ego.

What time is it in India? Around 8pm?

4 hours to go to "50%" day.

"This place used to be buzzing," says a worker. "Many people were fired recently. We don't know what will happen to us."

Its OK. Modi doesn't care. All these factories and IT are in dravidian states. Modi need to worry about his retarded farmers in north and Gujaratis selling Russian war oil.

Dravidians will be asked to sacrifice their well being to keep up Modi ego of vishwaguru. And LOL at Trump calling Modi 4 times.

If it were an own goal, Trump would not have called up Modi 4 times even after having been snubbed. Pakistanis seem to be celebrating that Trump used the Imran Khan card on Field Marshal and got him to say "Yas ser , Yas ser" on everything that was demanded.

Knowing Trump and his ego, it is next to impossible that he would call 4 times. That's not how he operates and India is not that indispensable for him.

POTUS does not do cold calling. His staff does all the leg work before he places a call to the leader of another country. If his staff tells him that the other leader cannot or is unwilling to take the call, the POTUS would never place the call. As such, a highly unlikely story.

Take that up with FAZ who broke the story, but given how Trump has sucked up to other strong leaders like Xi and Putin who play him like a fiddle and how insecure and needy for validation he is, I am not surprised at what was reported.

It is somewhat funny in the way you and the rest of India are all up in arms about The Dolund....fraand of India and the "MIGA + MAGA = MEGA" star. :giggle:
Somehow none of this psychoanalysis was done by Indians in Dolund's first term.

We already know how fickle Americans are...this realization only came to you now after that blind headlong rush to embrace chacha Trump by all of India and chappan inch ki chaati wale. It is pretty comical. Can't say I am not enjoying this clown-show. :giggle:

You seem to have a habit of projecting your own opinions and insecurities onto others. Of course , everyone who deals with Dolund knows what he is. Some countries that don't have any strong cards like Ukraine , Pakistan ( the present regime), the EU, Japan, South Korea have no option but to resort to flattery and obsequiousness. Other countries like China, Russia, India, which have more leverage are able to play hardball.

What India and Indians are saying—it’s not really about choice, but about having no choice.

Two things stand out from Trump’s time:

He pressed India to open its market to U.S. farmers and goods (the Delhi trade talks).

He is pushing India to distance itself from Russia.

Can I ask if Trump puts Pakistan in that position — “distance yourself from China, or be ready for tariffs/trade penalties” here what would be your response?

What hardball? Let's not joke by putting India in the same league as China or even Russia. It simply isn't true and you know it too, your bravado aside.
The purpose of a forum is to share opinions so not sure if my habits are anything for you to comment on. Stick to the topic or don't comment if its rubbing you the wrong way.

Last, Insecurities? Us Pakistanis? Indians are like a bunch of jilted lovers. Everything was America sir, America yes sir....and now suddenly the world is upside down so this whole sour grapes tamasha.

It's not about our response because we will eat up US sanctions as we have shown in the past. Indians have celebrated, cheered and encouraged US-Pakistani divergence so when the shoe is on the other foot, why complain?

India, Indians felt immune and over-confident. The issue on hand is about knowing America for what it is and understanding your own power-potential or lack thereof. India overestimated its clout and found out it wasn't so.

TINSTAAFL - That is the lesson to take from all this. After 20 years of trade incentives, billions in FDI and weapons transfers without any conditions, someone was bound to come collecting.

India will mend its ties with the US eventually, but till then what goes on is at least funny.

Frankly, you didn’t give an answer—you dodged it. My question remains unanswered!

India isn’t doing anything new; it has been following a similar foreign policy for decades, right from Nehru’s time.

And I’m sure you also understand how the U.S. operates. I don’t think this drama will last very long. Maybe in a week or month, or 6 months you’ll hear that there’s a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, with Trump announcing it… and the whole situation will completely change.

So, don’t worry about India. What matters most right now is that India must not bend. Because once you bend, it sets an expectation that you will bend again in the future

Largest export market getting destroyed but you missed a call from Trump.

Well done, Jai Hind!
