I think we blew this one due to pride. Trump wanted the nobel prize badly, he is enamoured with Putin and doesnt give shit about india importing russian oil. it was costing us nothing to let him take credit for india-pak ceasefire..should have just let him have it instead of all this strongman drama with usual sloganeering - national pride, red lines, principles etc etc well no one will be clapping you for defending your red lines 5 years down the line when your exports have been pummelled to 0.
As for opening up agricultural sectors, India will have to do it, unless we agree to buy insane amounts of US defence/
Boeing aircraft or energy. India telling the US it will reduce tariffs on US products to 0, except on automobiles and agriculture means nothing if those two are the only things where the US has a competitive advantage. Thats like the US telling India - hey we will tariff indian goods at 0%, except for your IT services which will be tariffed at 40% …its useless. We have a choice - either defend manufacturing, gems, leathers, fisheries and a dozen other sectors, or agriculture
This hard stance against opening up agriculture and being over protective of and glorification of farmers is costing us again like it has cost us always in the past- no land reforms, no farm law passed because of crying and whining by farmers. Govt would be wise to remember that not everyone in India is a farmer and farmers are doing what they do not as a favour to us but because they are either not smart enough to do anything else or simply because they were dealt bad cards in life and didnt get a chance to do anything else. They are the ones who vote for criminals and castes and they alone are responsible for their state, no one else.
there is a middle ground which is not being found just because it would hurt national pride…i say just import 4-5 billion dollars of American dairy and soybean every year, convert it into protein powder and distribute it for free to 100 million hungry, stunted vegitarian protein deficient kids who get pathetic meañs - daal and bhindi in their school meals.
I am pretty sure we will be able to get away with importing russian oil , especially if master statesman Putin performs some tricks and lets Trump suck his dck, but its modi and jaishankar who will have to swallow all this bravado and fake pride.

India buys Russian oil to sell through its own Black Market, through which it also channels terrorism related money, payments to different networks, etc. This essentially had made India, Russia's call girl or a front man if you want to be nice about it. India earns that money through its illegal profiteering network run by the Indian Kings (Adani and Ambani) and then channels that money to Russia after taking their massive cut and Russia then uses this money for its military acquisitions to further kill the Ukranians, estimated 5000 weekly.
The Chinese on the other hand buys the cheaper Russian oil and consumes it internally. That is WHY the US hasn't put sanctions on China because they are benefitting their internal need. If India was doing this legal use, the US won't have any issue. But two big wigs in India running a global illegal black market oil network for Russia is a global issue.
Lastly, to qualify as a "daddy" one must give the child daddy like benefits. The US has given you $3.5 trillion and nearly 10 million jobs and you decided to go against that daddy. Then you turned to China and made them your daddy by agreeing to ALL their terms in 3 days, turning your national foreign policy around full circle, from preparing for a "two front war" with China to asking them to be your daddy, give you strategic partnership and they refused, asked the baby to work hard on issues, show progress and then they will think about adopting you. Such a shameful position worldwide.

India was preparing for a "two front war" with China and Pakistan just 4 weeks ago. And then they made a U turn to call China daddy instead and wanted strategic trade ties and friendship. In other words, war preparations for decades to "friendship" means they turned a full circle in their foreign policy and national security.
China is smart, they didn't accept anything from India, they told them the needed Fertilizer and Water issue will be taken care of along with some items for trade. But refused to open Rare Earth's and heavier tech until Indian shows progress on issues including respecting Chinese relationships and interests, creating war mongering FREE relations with Pakistan, ending terrorism through proxies inside Afghanistan and into Pakistan and accepting Kashmir an issue to be discussed through negotiations and agreeing to join the CPEC. JayShanker took three days going back and forth with Modi but then told the the Chinese "sir we agree to everything". ONLY India can do this and make U turns on their entire foreign policy.

Supreme leaders don't need to give statements on such matters.How many independent interviews has our supreme leader given till now?
You will not find indian supreme leaders give comments so easily on relationship with other countries - last example, india and Canada, etc... you will not find it... It is job of respective belonging leaders of the field or foreign office.
