Up to this moment, there are no reliable Hebrew sources talking about the capture of Israeli soldiers or about the activation of the Hannibal Directive "Hannibal".
And I do not mean official sources, but rather from accounts on Telegram that we consider reliable, as we have grown accustomed from following them throughout two years of the war.
Imo, Hamas is not looking to trade prisoners anymore but to gain leverage to swap Israeli captives in exchange for Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and end of war.Hamas has been trying hard to capture some IDF rats for a while now. they came close a few times but it's very difficult.
capturing new soldiers would be a huge achievement for Hamas and if they exploited it well with propaganda it could be a turning pointImo, Hamas is not looking to trade prisoners anymore but to gain leverage to swap Israeli captives in exchange for Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and end of war.
Israeli public has been more accepting of casualties in this war. Casualties don't seem to backlash against leadership but capturing new soldiers this far in would cause the public to believe the military and political leadership are following a failed strategy in Gaza which can pressure them to end the war.
I don't believe they tried to capture soldiers. But soldiers did clash with the IDF invading troops. Israeli media exaggerates situation then stops reporting on it.capturing new soldiers would be a huge achievement for Hamas and if they exploited it well with propaganda it could be a turning point
we see a steady stream of 100k+ protestors every day in Tel Aviv wanting an end to the war. an event like this could really turn up the heat.
they have been trying for a few months at least and they admitted it as far as I know, saying the conditions on the field were not suitable (last time)I don't believe they tried to capture soldiers. Israeli drones are all above Gaza and not being shot down. They can attack any forces on the ground they see. It's very difficult to even inflict casualties on them as they hide behind armor, trenches, drones and have much overhead protection.
It's not working because there are tons of spying devices and equipment planted in Gaza that Gaza security forces can't get to for many obvious reasons.they have been trying for a few months at least and they admitted it as far as I know, saying the conditions on the field were not suitable (last time)
remember the bulldozer driver who fled his vehicle then was shot by Hamas?
it is very hard but they have opportunities as they emerge from tunnels and conduct quick ambushes.
