See below. Missile and Cockpit related work was being done by Turkey until it was removed from F-35 program. Plus lots more including RAM painting, etc. So Turkey started KAAN project before F-35 partnership but it has acquired these capabilities. Which is why its easier for it to join F-35 program again as they can produce all these components cost effectively for the entire program and bring unit cost down. Plus, these expertise of having such an industrial base will help their own KAAN project.

They do some good stuff but I wouldn’t overstate it either…. This is good for Turkey. The hardest part for domestic military is build their own fighter jet. Over next iteration after next, Turkey will learn and improve on building better fighter jets.

There are two reasons why some people want to see the F35 in Türkiye:

1. They want to ease the pressure on TF KAAN.
2. They want to see the F35B landing on TCG Anadolu.


KAAN is actually slightly ahead of its schedule right now but, still, it will take at leat 10 years before the bird is inducted in sufficient numbers.

The first prototype of KAAN was originally built for ground tests, but the decision was later changed and it was flown several times. From now on, the prototypes are being built for flight. Currently, two prototypes are under production, and they will be flying regularly in 2026. In addition, four more prototypes will be produced in 2027.

Next they will say you can't go after the PKK in Syria or we will embargo, the list of BS conditions keep getting larger and larger and arbitrary, first it was only over S-400s, now that, that element looked close to resolution with the SIPER Block 2 and Block 3 being close to ready, and Turkey not needing the S-400 as much, they find new BS to insert..

You don't think China has restrictions on their fighter jets that are exported? Only nation I know that is liberal when it comes to their export fighters are the French.
