India - US Tariff and Relations | News + Updates

We’re not offended, we’re just playing the game the way it suits us. If Europeans can buy Russian energy, why shouldn’t we? Ukraine or Europe’s issues aren’t our problems. The same Western countries are buying our refined Russian oil and paying us a nice margin on top, go figure. It’s a game you Pakistanis will never understand. What’s actually pathetic is you thinking we should suffer or care for white people wars.

The reason india is being tariffed is because you’re making a lot of money importing Russian crude oil, refining it, and then exporting it to countries that have sanctioned Russian oil , which is helping Russia get around the sanctions.

The reason India is being tariffed is because trump want to use it as a pressure point in his negotiations and that's fine, we will do what serves us best.

Trump: "I am pleased to announce that India, and the United States of America, are continuing negotiations to address the Trade Barriers between our two Nations,” Trump wrote on social media Tuesday. “I look forward to speaking with my very good friend, Prime Minister Modi, in the upcoming weeks."

They say that the tariffs are hurting US more than India. A deal would soon be reached however.

As if India is the only country who export goods to America, there hundreds of alternatives.
Why would Americans pay extra?
Dumb Indians.

So what you're saying is, concessions will be inevitable from India, whether India sides with China or USA, or even if India straddles the imaginary line of optimum chanakiya between these two superpowers?

Yes, we would agree for once.

Is the US ever to be trusted by any country, now it wants a better relation with China in all fronts, kidding ?

Because US have accepted China rise as superpower.

Good USA-China relations are in Pakistan interests, we will continue to play role of bridge between 2 super powers.

It's unilateral American move, I don't see it being reciprocated from all the responses.

I had looked up this idiot Friedman. He is just another arrogant American who is nearly always wrong. He has been predicting the complete implosion of China since the 1990s.

he predicted india would be a rising power...

but he was wrong on that

so yes he is an idiot.

Actually no...

the west is now convinced your military are dodos.... they couldn't fight their way out of a paper towel.

they are just upset india was such a bad investment... anyway kicking out of indians from USA is a good thing.

@KingQamaR

and then exporting it to countries that have sanctioned Russian oil ,

Are we holding a gun to European heads and forcing them to buy refined Russian oil?

Regards

Nope. You've got it backwards.

India was supposed to be the vanguard of America's war but were simply not up to the task. Your leaders desperately wanted to be stronk enough to fight 2.5 front wars but you were deemed incapable.

Put simply for you, do you genuinely think USA and China would be swatting you around like a ping pong ball today if you had beaten Pakistan in May?

No, Trump didn’t throw India under the bus for China. That idea is ludicrous. The Trump administration has just decided that Indias utility as a vassal is severely limited and they are tired of giving India the perks of an ally when they do not act like one. Also there is a growing anti Indian hostility among the Maga base and so the tariffs, ending of visas and stoping outsourcing are all tied to this.

Europe is on the surface crying about Ukraine and Russian aggression on Europe. Below the surface Europe is relieved at Russia's conventional utter incompetence compared to how Europe perceived Russian military capability.

We can talk about how it's difficult and all that. Yes but war is still the same as the old days in that you still have total domination when a superior force decides to target a weaker one. US dominated Iraq in war. US dominated Afghanistan but couldnt fight the kind of war that was forced on it. Germany dominated France. Russia was expected to be able to dominate Ukraine but it couldn't. Despite monumental waste of life, it hasn't shown itself to be able to win in the way Europe assumed. Europe is hesitant to spend more on military at the behest of the US because it understand conventionally Russia is no longer the sort of military threat it indeed once was. Its electronic and software is far too outdated and forces it to fight in the style of a bygone era.

Trump and the US has moved away from setting India up as a distraction for China and at worst, a way to soak up Chinese bullets. India doesn't want that role either. The marriage is over. Even with subsequent US administrations/regimes, there is no guarantee that the US will soften its stance on India even with Democrats. Even then, the US has gone ultra right wing in recent years anyway. The left in the US don't want war with China as badly as it once did. Chinese efforts at countering US narratives have actually worked somewhat on western lefties who previously was open to military action on China. Nowadays they are either of the understanding that China isn't as evil as it was presented to be and/or China would kick their asses in so hard they may get conscripted to become corpses rotting somewhere around Asia. The US regime recognises this shift and has spoken out to say they have focused away from China. Their elites know they lost a long time ago. It's now a fight for second place and for as much of a share of world resources and wealth as they can get knowing China is racing ahead.
