Well, I got what I dealt with; they gave me a 92F and that's my trusty sidearm for my next 8 years. I don't know why people hated it, yes, it's big and it's heavy, but that's what shooting was supposed to be. I don't mind shooting lightweight polymer firearms, but those just don't feel like you are firing anything.

And before you ask me, yes, I preferred AK-47 or M-14(or M1A) over any M4. Those felt like guns; the M4 felt like a toy. The last "True" American Rifle I fired is my gran's M1 Garand......Now that's what firearms suppsoed to be.......

100% if you can afford one, get one, make sure its registered and legal, get hours practicing at a range, practice dry drills in your house clearing rooms in low light.

Idk man its just that owning a gun goes against what I stand for ideologically, and the discussions we have here you can tell I am bit stubborn when it comes to giving up my positions. But I get what you are saying, having a weapons and trained on for dire times is better than not having one and later regretting it.

Hey if you are anti-gun or dont wish to own one more power to you. I couldn't really say what your circumstances are, but it all depends on your own threat assessment and risk management.

Firearms maintenance is just about oiling it, checking the springs (for pistols only, the slide recoil spring and the magazine spring), and then cleaning your barrel. You need to take down that pistol, but it's quite easy to do, just read the manual or ask the gun store people to show you how, it's quite easy to do, but like many thing easy to do, sometime some people just choose not to do it lol

Yeah, range day is a good way to know what type of firearms you want, or whether you want anything to begin with. There is nothing better than hands-on experience, safely, I would much rather you spend like $50 to shoot it first, then drop $450 for one and try to figure it out later.

That's understandable that a gun would require maintenance, I would assume that gun maintenance is connected to how much you use it even if it means just shooting at some range.
yeah I am waiting for a friend who is in Columbia for his marriage, ex US Military he said he will take me to gun range when he returns, he owns a Pistol and also looking for some bigger gun not sure which one exactly.

Living in US does indeed change my prospectus of guns for sure, Like I was telling J_Hungry that i get why guns can be important to have here in USA, I mean growing up in Karachi and minding my own business, living a very simple life makes me never thought of getting a gun thinking I will never need one, but here in USA life is different.
I lived in Country side with Red necks for 1.5 years, and I have close calls with people who are on drugs yelling and shouting on streets aggressively charging at other people, or heard stories about break in by druggies. I do think owning a gun (Handgun) with proper training by someone professional is something I will not be against, but I will never own a rifle automatic or semi Automatic, I don't think people should have such high power weapons, specially with when whole world see rise of mental illness.

Well then, you're not qualified to talk about whether the SIG P226 is any good or not. I am.

The Brits loved theirs and they carried the HP for how many years prior to adopting the P226 for Operation Herrick. The SEALs chose the P226 over the M9 because the M9 was too heavy, the early frames were prone to cracking, and susceptible to jamming due to the sand and dirt in the desert environments. I qualified for my initial CCW with a P226 when others were running Glocks. 5 years later I re-qual'd with the P226. Since then, AZ has dropped the requal part for CCW renewals.

The P220 was the standard handgun for AZ Department of Public Safety for many years with the P226 being the approved alternate. Now they carry the P229 in .40S&W

I'll agree the P320 has issues with the internals. The hammer fired handguns don't.

Umm, does it load special rounds (like different grain, I know some guns need a special load to not jam or explode in your face), or do you just buy what they recommend? I usually just load it myself, but again, I had not fired SIG before, strange that a round costs twice for FMJs....

There's a bit of history behind the .40S&W round, was made specifically for FBI task force, turned out so good SOCOm had a special batch, iirc .mke produced for wot, but in later years when funding dried up they switched back to glocks.

I am a HUGE fan of 6 shooter, my goal is to own an original functioning Colt Single Action Army, probably not that flashy with a pearl ivory handle like yours. but even a blue steel Colt SAA can go up to 10 grand, my wife would have divorced me for spending that much money........

when my gran passed, he gave all his guns to my father's younger brother, as my father wasn't that into guns. In fact, when he was drafted in Vietnam, he stated that he was a CO (conscientious objector) and ended up being sent to Vietnam as a corpsman. My grandpa has a huge collection of firearms, one of them is a transferable Ma Deuce machine gun he got before the 1934 machine gun ban and he got it for $250, because browning is selling them dirt cheap since the government is about to outlaw them, but even tho if you buy it full price then it's going to cost you like $500. Now that piece alone is worth over 50 grand...
