That's understandable that a gun would require maintenance, I would assume that gun maintenance is connected to how much you use it even if it means just shooting at some range.
yeah I am waiting for a friend who is in Columbia for his marriage, ex US Military he said he will take me to gun range when he returns, he owns a Pistol and also looking for some bigger gun not sure which one exactly.

It's very important to go to the range with someone who's experienced. I know too many peeps who just go by themselves, knowing nothing, and end up learning the wrong thing.

Unless you are living in a very downtrodden area, you probably don't need a firearm for protection. Places like Jacksonville or Clearwater are good enough not to having any firearms, I cannot say for sure about other areas in FL, but it really up to yourself as to whether or not you want to have one, bear in mind as I always say, adding a firearm in a volatile situation would only get worse unless you know for sure how to defuse the issue, it's not recommended to escalate yourself. So if you go get one, you need to know what you need to do to secure it, both when you are using it, and when you are not. Otherwise, if you point a gun at a drug dealer without knowing what will happen and he/she disarms you, that wouldn't be good.....

Well, considering I unloaded 5 boxes of SAW ammo on Taliban just 1 day, 500k sounded about right......I am 45. I started shooting when I was like 11 or 12, back in the US., Before joining the military, I shot maybe around 10 AR mags and 10 pistol mags a weekend, sometimes I also do that during the week. So I would say I shot about 100K in the 10 years as a civilian. Then I joined the military, and I am literally qualified for everything, from AR to Ma Duece. You need to put around 10k per weapon to qualify it (More if you go full auto or crew serve weapon), and then you also put regular range time and extended range time. I can shoot 15 to 20 AR mag a day, then I went to war twice, which then I lost track of how many rounds I had fired. But I will say over that 20-year period between the Military, Law Enforcement and being a sport shooter, I would most likely have fired 350 to 400k rounds.

I moved to Australia in 2012, and I still shoot. I have both an A and an H license and I have 4 firearms (A Glock 17 for IPSC, a Colt Python for Steel Silhouette, a M700 for rifle target, and a Browning A Bolt 300 for rifle Silhouette), and I need to fire them all in matches to keep every one of them. I usually go to the range every sat and sun (one for pistol and the other for rifle), so it's probably another 100k there

There's a bit of history behind the .40S&W round, was made specifically for FBI task force, turned out so good SOCOm had a special batch, iirc .mke produced for wot, but in later years when funding dried up they switched back to glocks.

Should be more out there in public domain, or there's that subreddit that goes in detail about it.

I know 40 S&W was designed for Law Enforcement, and that's probably what I am familiar with, I personally shot some SOCOM special 556, I don't find them any different than normal ball round.

I tend to think those special factory loads are a scam lol, but then I am not a pro-shooter, I mean I know my guns but not really digging into the history of rounds or stuff like that ....

London police who are armed are armed with Glock 17s and where appropriate, MP-5s. Both are chambered in .40S&W.

Spent some time speaking with a couple London cops while attending a Changing of the Guard ceremony at Buckingham.

Exactly there are always so many factors involved in owning a gun or pointing one at someone, hence I have strong opinions about guns. I live in Tampa which has good and bad neighborhoods, lots of Gang activity from what I heard, I never personally come across any because my life revolve around home to work, work to home.. sometimes going out to clear my mind and relax.

Technically speaking I don't need a gun for now hence I am not even in any rush to own one, but Its in my bucket list to shoot a real gun in life of course in a range, similar to paragliding, and go on a Fishing charter etc I agree that with a gun specially in FL which is a open carry state, you have to keep your head cool and I know a lot of people do carry guns here in Florida, you can see people even in markets and gas stations.
Like I said I will always be against civilian owning powerful big guns which include AR's and AK's etc one can defend themselves with a handgun effectively and wait for police to arrive.
