Pakistan-Saudi Arabia mutual defense pact: News & Discussion

India benefits from Saudia like it does from the US. You don't "risk" relations whom you benefit. Similarly, they don't have great friendly relations with Iran or Israel. That's dumb to even think that. Lastly, google the meaning of strategic ally. I know your entire nation is super upset but it's over for India. Check mated in May, then by the US and then by the Chinese and now by the Middle Eastern nations. Part of life. 2025 is the worst year for Indian foreign relations. Why did Modi's one of 50 Jotishis not predict it?

India does not go to Saudi Arabia with katora in hand asking for loans and bailouts. The Indo-Saudi relationship is based on mutual interests and mutual benefits. That is not going to change. India realises the Saudis have a long-standing security relationship with Pakistan, just like the Saudis are aware of India's relationship with Israel. After signing the agreement, the Saudis specifically named India and said their relationship with India would only grow stronger. Everyone who understands geopolitics knows this is effectively a one-sided commitment wrapped in a mutual defence agreement to make it look respectable.

The Pakistani regime of the day often makes decisions for its immediate survival that turn out to be long-term albatrosses around the nation's neck. Membership of SEATO and CENTO, supporting the Aghan jihah, participation in Bush's War on Terror, supporting the "good" Taliban are just a few examples. Selling/renting nukes to the Saudis and making every enemy of the Saudis an enemy of Pakistan is just the latest in this list.

Who know what happened when General Asim Munir met Trump? Mr. Munir only took the ISI Chief along to keep things very secret and the Americans too are quiet about that meeting--maybe Trump knows and even approves Pakistan taking over as a security guarantor in the Middle East while America can finally focus on the Pacific Ocean? The American firepower in the Middle East is no long as credible as it was just 2-3 years ago, and neither are the American guarantees to provide the security.

I think Trump found out that Pakistanis are very easy to deal with (Whether its minerals cooperation or anything else) while indians are very difficult to deal with. The fact india said that they won't stop buying russian oil and russian military hardware made trump to get strict towards india. Imagine, we were not even allowed to buy cheapest gas from neighboring Iran but at same time India was allowed to have chahbahar port project investment. Then india really made a fool out of americans during Biden admin by not only buying russian oil for their own needs but buying it in vast majority to re-export to Europe at high profits. India made immense out of money from Russia-Ukraine war. India was having best of both worlds. It was indeed very unfair that West which stopped buying Russian oil had to buy it indirectly at many times the original cost. So i think US / Trump are still very reasonable to India given the circumstances.

May be as a common citizen we are not privy to info that governments have. But for the last 3,4 month world is shifting rapidly and re-aligning but for the worst. Like the stories we have heard before WW1 or WW2 thing.
Trump has definitely played a part, but don't know what has actually happened that lead to this much. Something big is coming don't know what but we are not seemed prepared. Just a hunch.

Saudi Arabia has already said it will continue to strenghten its relationship with India, so don't expect Saudi troops to come and fight in Kashmir and Punjab, or on the Aghanistan border, for that matter.

This is a one-sided agreement that the Saudis are using to signal to the US and Israel. Given the situation in the Gulf, it is very likely that Pakistan would soon be fighting Saudi wars. The brilliant Pakistani leadership has effectively sold long -term life insurance to a stage 4 terminal cancer patient. The claim might come due before they collect even a single insurance premium.
Good for you, isn't it? Be happy in your bubble.

But, get one thing across your skull. Israel was equally involved in Indian attacks on Pakistan in 2019 and 2025.

We are now slowly getting closer the neck of that enemy too.

War by Bob Woodward.

this pact will have far reaching implications. Pakistan army will be stationed in Saudi and bases will be given to Pakistan.

Ok this makes more sense.

Saudis saw that US support is jack from Qatar, and now they want to have some sort of a backup plan if sht hits the fan, which is our nukes.

Overly simplistic and wrong. Every Muslims heart bleeds over that issue but you’re talking about Pakistanis invading Isreal? So you’re suggesting that if Pakistanis were offered money, they would do that? Talk sense please.
You a Pakistani, or Muslim at least yeah? Are u in Gaza right now fighting the entity? No, all comfy in your bed right? So what gives u the right to ridicule Pakistanis in General?
Palestinians being massacred every day for last two years have no use for yours or any other Muslims bleeding hearts.

Israel has ravaged Palestine and bombed Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran Yemen, Tunisia, Qatar, Malta yet Pakistani establishment has energetically leapt to the defense of GCC only. Why ? $$$.

Alas Palestinians have no money to hire Pakistani bodyguards.

The saudis, like the rest of the gulf sheikhs, are finding out their shinny western toys are meaningless against Israel and susceptible to kill-switches. Pakistan has been a security guarantor for these wealthy Shiekhdoms, even though Pakistan hasn’t extracted enough concessions in return.

Moving forward, there’s a high chance these Shiekhdoms plus Egypt will opt for J-35 buoyed by PAF’s strong showing with Chinese weapons against the Indian Air Force and to improve interoperability with Pakistan.
This mutual defense pact means...a long journey for both countries to make sure they can work together well...so interoperability would be front and center...in addition to lots of military exercises and training together.

Also curious about a nuclear umbrella. The response to the question seems like KSA would get the nuclear umbrella...
...if the answer to that is yes...then that spawns many questions.
1) Would Pakistan increase its nuclear weapons stockpile?
2) Would they be based on KSA to be used rapidly if it ever comes to that eventuality? Or would they be based still in Pakistan and launched from there if it comes to that eventuality(like ICBM type of range)? Or perhaps even as SLBMs through nuke subs?
3) If India attacks Pakistan now...would KSA come to aid militarily? Or pour money in Pakistan's coffers to bankroll the war effort?
4) This is not just a defense pact between two countries...this represents a first step. I would think that UAE, Qatar, Oman, etc...are all looking at it and considering it with much more importance...and some of these countries may want in. Bcuz the gulf countries have a very short list of enemies they can expected to be attacked by in the near future...and so their geostrategic calculus would align easily.

Also I wonder if it will sway Trump more towards Pakistan...bcuz he loves the Arab money.

P.S. Pakistan has no power projection ability to speak of...to fight a war that far away...Pakistan and KSA both will have to work on that.

So basically the Saudis have assured their own security

After they said not to respond to India saying they can't afford another Gaza and didn't exactly back Pakistan the way they should have during the conflict.

Unless this defence pact actually shows a mutual dividend and not just a one sided affair, it's basically the Saudis trying to save their own hide
There are more conflicts to come..for both countries...time will tell how this defense pact holds up.

So if India launches Sand Door 2 then it's all go from Saudi?
Just deliveries of their advanced jets would be insane.
This also seems very grey.
I think it would be challenging for both countries to come to the other's aid in a full capacity to fight if an attack happened on either tomorrow...
...bcuz both lack power projection at a meaningful scale for now. This agreement signing is just a first step...
...for it to fully play out in the real world it would require at least a 10 year prep if not more.

Not true...both , you and SC are wrong .... During 71 war PAF was in shambles , we didn't even have spare parts for the existing fleet .
Yes the US embargo hit us very hard since PAF was essentially all US made.

However what I said re: Luftwaffe F86 being sourced via Iran and Jordanian F104s is true.
I believe W/C Middlecoat was lost flying one of those and they didn't even have Aim9 on them.
