Have you ever seen the amount of external debt of European countries? Ukrainians are begging for that. Bunch of clueless idiots run this country hence no future for it.

100 bn dollar is nothing compared to external debt of some of European countries. USA will enslave them if not destroyed by Russians already.

Iran External Debt reached 6.3 USD bn in Mar 2023, compared with 8.7 USD bn in the previous year. Iran External Debt: USD mn data is updated yearly, available from Mar 1994 to Mar 2023. The data reached an all-time high of 28.6 USD bn in Mar 2008 and a record low of 6.3 USD bn in Mar 2023.

Makes you feel proud of your country.

I think most iranians would accept higher debt to GDP ratio if it meant better living standards

There is nothing wrong with our living standards.

It's true that sanctions have reduced our GDP but the purchasing power is improved thanks to governmental support.

there is many problem when somebody cant afford fixing broken arm of his 11 year old child in governmental health sector and leave and don't believe it when we tell him , we fix it without register it and there is no need to pay for anything

seriously?

extremely high inflation, high unemployment, currency debased to oblivion, very low salaries, comparatively tiny GDP vs peer countries ... please don't be delusional

How do we truly know the GDP of a country like Iran when most of its trade is not done with USD?

I will leave that to the economists

and IRI also publishes its own numbers, unless you want to disavow those as well

Even IMF data shows that Iranian economy has improved and also slowed down the inflation.

It’s far from sufficient. Corruption reigns supreme. Economy is running in fits and spurts.

IMO the fundamental issue is Iranian society itself.

از ماست که بر ماست.

Thank goodness we have the Islamic Republic that is trying its best to address these. Often to deaf and entitled ears unfortunately.

What you even talking about? As an Aussie you are too worried about us.

Corruption is a common phenomenon in every economy, point is, the corrupt must be identified and dealt with accordingly. It's exactly the same thing that's happening in Iran.

Iranian economy pre revolution was totally dependent on oil export. It was hard to shift it and change the source of income esp with people like Rafsanjani on top of influential figures.

The economy is decoupling from oil hence the challenges imposed on it today. Add that to hard sanctions.

All in all, Iranians are people of hard days, we will never give up.
