I feel GOI is serious about pushing Tejas project. Biases aside, engines remain the core problem, and that's just half of it. The IAF would need to carryout Customer Acceptance Flights not just for the batch but the weapon systems also. Unless they already have done so, and if not, then that will cause further delays (not long though). So, Vishnu Som's "all set to be delivered" comment should be taken with the pinch of salt. Unless, of course, the aircraft are to be forcefully shoved down the IAF's throats. In the event of dissatisfaction, I suppose the IAF could utilise them as LIFT aircraft.

Weapons system are already certified on the existing planes.

As others have said, too big to fail. If it becomes a frontline fighter is another matter.

All such news are encouraging but don’t mean much till it becomes a non-news.

When first booster rocket was recovered by Space X and it was on each and every news portal across the world, Elon Musk had said - I want this to become so common that it becomes a non-news.

This is a very good point.
But Indian politicians and media would disagree.
For them, any such message is a golden opportunity to flex their political muscles and gain support.
Even when such an opportunity doesn't exist, they will create it, using numerous PPT and slogans.
"We will......India will become......"
This is a standard jargon used by Indian politicians and media outlets.
Even if you support this view, you still use statements like "I hope ......".
