Turkish Foreign Policy and Regional Geopolitics

Smart move, i think a nuclear deal means a strategic step. What kind thing you need to pull this from the Senate? No Catsa at least?

Are there any legalities of NATO alliance that stop Turkey from joining in another defense pact?

I think so.

Like the Saudi-Pak one?

I don't see it happening anytime soon, but closer defense cooperation outside of a treaty is possible. Personally I think Turkey should push the boundaries of relations with Pakistan. I'm very much interested in a possibility of a joint Pakistani Air Base in Turkey where Nuclear warheads are deployed in a Nuclear weapons sharing agreement, something akin to what Turkey has with the United States at Incirlik. In case some people get some ideas to pick a fight with Turkey and Turkey doesn't have US backing or in a conflict with the EU/France regarding Greece.

But thats long term, I don't see it happening anytime soon, but a buildup of a Non NATO Nuclear contingency would be a good thing IMO.

CAATSA can be waived via executive order. Its designed to be at Presidential discretion.

I heard they are offering Patriots, but I would rather Turkey acquire THAAD.

SIPER is pretty much at Patriot capability already. Not much to be gained. THAAT with its exo atmospheric interceptor and S-500 type capability would be a good addition to boost Anti Ballistic Missile defense.

Pakistan deploying warheads jointly will never be possible. Israel with the US will raise hell.

Pakistan deploying warheads individually at a location / airbase that the Americans know that is 100% in Pakistani control, is 100% possible.

Nuclear nations don't give out their weapons. It's not a "rental contract". Pakistan will defend Turkey but through it's own protocols. Same goes for Saudia, if we deploy weapons there, it will never see a Saudi hand involved.

Us does the same, Incirlik operations related to nukes are under US's responsibility.

Turkey is already a Nuclear Sharing state, those bombs are to be fitted to Turkish F-16s to drop, though to activate, they require US approval as part of a joint protocol.

The idea is to have a similar agreement with Pakistan.

I think the Saudis paid for several warheads already from what I read, when the time comes, Pakistan is to deliver the warheads to Saudi. Those Dong Feng-3 missiles they bought from China are Nuclear capable, their acquisition in such small numbers make no sense otherwise, they aren't designed for conventional strike.

The problem with this stories is they are nothing more then stories.

Oh no, this story I think is real. The Saudis def invested in the Pakistani nuclear program and helped Pakistan when it got sanctioned for building nukes, and they definitely bought those missiles from the Chinese. The only confirmation that we don't have is the agreement to transfer those warheads. That part is speculation, but there is a strong basis for it, b/c this missiles aren't really conventional strike missiles, they are strategic strike, and Saudi didn't buy them in enough numbers to use conventionally.

F-35's on the table! Not the one in the picture :) on the table for discussions along with other weapons.

Apparently, engines on the table. Negotiations for jet engines ;)

Calm down Foinikas, no need to be upset over a small picture. lol
I'm not upset, why would I even,it's hilarious. It's the same as when Indians see Modi and Trump shake hands and go like "OOOH Mr.Trump and president Modi so great AND good friends,we love u sir,America and India brothers countries tenk u ok"

Naaah you'll be making your own now with American engines. I wonder why they still keep them after all these years. They should have sold them already.

Because they can't Turkey paid for them already, legally they are Turkish jets. What they need to do is either give them or return the money. So they stay mothballed.
