India - US Tariff and Relations | News + Updates

My God he is on a mission to wipe out India economically....
Not aimed at India. Indian exports are primarily generics. The share of branded pharmaceutical is minuscule from India.

The imposition of 100 per cent tariff on branded and patented drug imports into the US from October 1 will have no adverse impact on Indian generic drug exporters, according to experts.

“A plain reading of the executive order shows that there will be no impact on Indian pharmaceutical exports to the US as we only export generics. Out of total exports, branded or patented drugs constitute only a very negligible portion,’‘ Uday Bhaskar, former Director- General of Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council (Pharmexcil) told businessline Friday.

“Trump’s focus appears more on those patented drugs being imported by the US from the European and other developed countries and as long as the generics imports are not tariffed, Indian pharma industry will have no adverse impact,’‘ Bhaskar said.

The US is a major destination for Indian pharma exports with over one-third of $30.47 billion exports in 2024-24 going to the US market. However, these are off-patented drugs (generics). According to industry exports, the percentage of branded/patented drugs in total exports is less than one per cent.

According to the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA), US President Donal Trump’s order imposting 100 per cent tariffs “is not applicable to generics.’‘

The major impact would be on it’s allies, namely Europe and few other countries that sell branded pharmaceutical to the US.

guys is it related with indian trade? if not i can delete it

No. It is not related to India.

Indian exports of branded pharmaceutical to US is less than 1% of total pharmaceutical exports.

It could change later on and Trump might tweak the rules to include generics too. But, as of now, Indian exports are intact.

The tariffs are aimed at Ireland, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, China and Italy. As of now.

Lying wont make the pain go away

Lying wont make the pain go away
Then don’t lie and stop peddling lies.

Stock markets always react to news. That isn’t the benchmark for deciding over this situation.

What you are happy about is the word “uncertainty “ but you want to ignore the exact information available at this time. And that is- this tariff is applicable to BRANDED pharma.

Remember, your celebration over H1B issue a few days back? All the trolls vanished from that thread when they realised the actual impact on H1B.

Indian pharma sector is represented by a body called
“ Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India”. They have issued a statement in this regard.
A troll cherry picking parts of news to celebrate can’t come close to veracity of a situation as analysed by a professional body like PEPCI.

So, relax and stop celebrating.

For those who want to understand a little bit, should see this clip. Ajay Bagga is an expert on trade and tariffs. He brings out all the angles very clearly.
This is not a political analysis but an economic one for Indian investors.

So all those people selling shares rapidly in Indian Pharma companies are idiots and you are right?

Think there is much to celebrate last few months and this week....

Everyone is trying to calm a market panic

Lying about the Pharma tarrifs not effecting India and asking someone to delete the news.

How desperate Indians are about controlling the narrative...

Let us know if these Indian and International news sources are also "cherry picking"

Everyone is trying to hide things and you are the only warrior out there to unravel the truth, by telling lies.

As per your superior wisdom, every fall drives experts to try and calm the stock markets, without telling the truth or bring out the facts. No sane person can counter this superior logic of yours. But, I suggest that you keep it to yourself for many reasons.

The latest tariffs by Trump on pharma aren’t aimed at India. That is the bottom line as of now.

Stock markets generally overreact to any news. Both positive as well as negative. The BSE pharma index is trading down by 2.1%. If 2-3 % fall makes you feel happy, then you have plenty of happiness. 😂

@Vkdindian1 Jokers I tell you... folks think the world revolves around them - that every news (H1-B/Pharma/Tarriffs) will destroy the arch enemy. "Sadistic" fools if you ask me

Don’t worry about my shares and my money.

Your phony good wishes are as hollow as your argument on this matter.

Markets closed just now and the pharma index closed 2.17% lower. Your hopes of 12% decrease have been shattered to pieces. Heartbroken?
