Pakistan-Saudi Arabia mutual defense pact: News & Discussion

Well I can tell you very few have knowledge of Pakistan Nuclear program, tis a very closely guarded secret, but some experience members can give you a understanding, Oscar, Panzerkiel, Rescue Ranger, Fatman17, Blain2, Side-winder, HRK, Farooqbhai...
Brother those details are NOT shared on a public forum - only an idiot would do that.

Since India Threaten Pakistan , where is saudia? why they haven`t gave any warnings? Basically "Ham par hamla - dunno par hamla wala churan kidhar gaya?"

It would be an issue if Pakistan felt threatened. You all are blowing this out of proportion.

Like I said - wait for the time to come... Everyone is so reactionary on PDF.

With the upcoming events that are about to unfold in the Middle East and the coming Pakistan India war that will take place (most likely) at the same time; I don't think this agreement would amount to anything.
At best, our forces would protect Harmain when SHTF!

What I suspected however after 50 + years, Pakistan must have indigenous knowledge to such a degree that they would be able to set up nuclear power plants in KSA next door? Or am I being too optimistic here? This would be a great thing if you ask me. Two Muslim countries working together without any outsiders would be preferable. Not that I don't trust China (both are strategic partners of KSA and Pakistan) but always easier with less partners.

Thank you. I will wait for their replies.
The knowledge is there but there is no experience. Pakistan has never built a nuclear power reactor since it was cheaper to acquire them from abroad, particularly China. Even if Pakistani scientists can design one on their own it will take a considerably long time to push it from design to production, regardless of how much money KSA commits .

China is the one to go to. Of course, with KSA's financial strength the Europeans and perhaps America would like to jump to the opportunity but China would be politically more reliable and it also has better experience in innovation and improvement, and good rapid pace of construction.

KSA has uranium reserves (5% of the world's reserves apparently) and KSA has publicly (our energy minister) stated they want to export enriched uranium.

This way Pakistan (in the future) could buy enriched uranium from KSA. Or receive for free depending on the deals reached.
Pakistan has quite an advanced enrichment programme. That's how we got to the first nuclear bombs. If anything, Pakistan could enrich uranium for KSA since it does not have any such programme/facility. However, there would be obstacles.

Uranium access is a big constraint. We've yet to finalize a uranium import scheme that will allow us to run an independent nuclear energy program.

China packages uranium with its reactors, so if we want one, we get the other. That said, PAEC contributes to the Chinese programs in Pakistan with real expertise and material support, basically like a major or prime contractor.

However, KSA might give us the diplomatic heft to secure a proper uranium deal with Kazakhstan, for example, to start our next-gen reactor program.

oh yes I know, I told him its a closely guarded secret and people will have very little knowledge but some might have a little general idea, I know sensitivity of the program because I almost become part of it before I came here to US.

Bharat buys oil by tens of billions of $s from the KSA. If it can divert a chunk of it for the joint armaments it would suffice.....

Agreed. But I don't get the last point. Why should we leverage KSA ties to secure uranium deal with Kazakhstan when KSA has sufficient uranium deposits of its own? That's what the _Arabia_ was trying to emphasize on. Also, IMO, China is the best diplomatic leverage for Kazakhstan since it has made great inroads in Central Asia.

A good analysis on the ME and the West: they're returning to their roots....

I really like this Ahmed Arabi guy: He often brings in very interesting connections which hardly anyone else seems to notice; and he is more objective then most of Pakistani analysts with their pie in the sky pipedreams and lazy thoughts.

Related to this thread. This video, from a generally anti- Pakistan channel, is saying mostly the same thing as this thread, at least from a pro Pakistan perspective. But toward the end, India is finally mentioned as a major 'loser' from the KSA-Pak agreement.

Pakistan has a large workforce. KSA has to provide Pakistani companies and energy infrastructures with gas and oil with long term payment.

However its not in favour of Arab kinglets to lose Pakistan's hardworking class of migrants but the Pakistani side has to give it a try and turn Pakistan into an economically developed country with KSA's help.

If Israel didn't decide to annex norther parts of KSA, its not out of fear of Saud family, its because of countries like Pakistan armed with nuclear weapons.

Its a huge debt and KSA has to payback the way Pakistani side deserves for honest support with their nuclear umbrella.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is planning to double its manpower exports to Saudi Arabia after the signing of a landmark defense deal between the two countries last month, officials told Arab News on Monday.

The country’s human resource exports to Saudi Arabia have already witnessed a steady rise over the past five years, according to the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment. Pakistan sent 1.88 million workers to Saudi Arabia between 2020 and 2024, up 21 percent from 1.56 million in 2015–2019.

Remittances from the Kingdom rose from $7.39 billion in 2020 to $8.59 billion in 2024, reflecting steady demand for Pakistani labor. In contrast, inflows from the United Arab Emirates fluctuated between $5.8 billion and $6.8 billion during the same period, while those from Qatar remained below $1 billion annually, according to the State Bank of Pakistan.

As we discussed before the Gulf countries with Saudi leading will ramp up Pakistani hiring and gradually phase down other labor from select source countries.

Double it to 1 million a year mean in 5 years remittance from Saudi Arabia will also double. Win win

There are also talks of discounted oil. And other investment in Pakistan, maybe oil complex may become a reality this time.
