When you are in power you are venerable. Taliban biggest advantage was gorilla warfare. Not administration, engineers, scientists or doctors. Since Taliban wants to rule Afga, they have to be out in the public exposed. If Pakistan wants to wipe out their entire leadership, they can easily do so. Not many people understand but taking out specific human target is no easy work.

In ambush attack yes it will be very dangerous however in open battlefield you need to use those high tech weapons with tactics and planing. Pakistani troops who are less equipped will simply not engage them head on and instead call artillery, drone, or air support.

No one wants to be involved in this mess. Not one nation (including our so called defense pact nation) has favored one side over the other.

Everyone knows this sort of fight is super messy and it’s actually in everyone’s interest to make sure this doesn’t go out of hand.

What is the assumption that the Taliban fighter doesnt have moral value or Jazba in their mind?
All other equipment, drone or air strikes cannot provide holding power of infantry.
You need boots on the ground to secure - and you need communication lines to sustain those boots on the ground and resources to use those communication lines flowing.

You can use drones and fighters to push those nuts back and let your infantry go sit there but then your communication lines are completely exposed with the massive anti state sentiment taking hold. Lets assume you are able to keep your lines of communication intact where do you have resources nationally to keep things flowing?
Especially when you have another bloodthirsty group to the East who isnt lacking any equipment either and is more than willing to throw everything at you pretty soon as well.

There is a reason alarm bells are ringing not because the action was not needed- but that the action was undertaken at the worst possible time and conditions.
