How likely is it that the Afghanis acquire weapons capable of really hitting Pakistan like drones or manpads and use them to hit our jets and airbases? Pretty sure there are many big countries willing to provide them afghans for free.

Brother advanced weapons systems are not the same as buying a phone and simply unboxing it and inserting a sim.

Weapons systems require operator training, supply chain, technicians, on going maintenance, resupply.

These things take months and months and months and end user licences - the Taliban is not recognised as a government hence it would require a vendor in another country to first get approval for end user certification to sell weapons to Afghanistan as its seen as a terrorist regieme.

This is the mistake that Russia did, they waited for too long. The hesitated to destroy Ukrainian army, until it was too late .. and the war that should have easily ended in 3 days has been dragging on for 3 years now with no signs of ending. I hope our army learns from that.

For all I care Pakistan should Annex Afghanistan's Eastern provinces and throw the Taliban out just as Russia did in Ukraine. Most Afghans would be glad to have a better life and future without Taliban, inside Pakistan. US would be glad, China would be glad, Pakistanis would be glad. They want Durand line, lets bring them inside the Durand line and unite then with their Pashtun brothers for good. Iran & Tajikistan can take the rest.

There is an anthropological theory that Afghans/Pashtoons are a lost tribe of Israelite. I asked a learned Pashtoon colleague from a long time ago about it (His name was Asfandyar Bhittani - unsure if its the same @Asfandyar Bhittani who is on this forum). According to him this indeed is the case and there is a grave of prominent individual (either in KPK or Afghanistan) whom some call father of Pashtoons and the inscription on his grave is in Hebrew. I never bothered to verify this through Google image or general Google search (Edit: AI says it does not appear to be true).

According to lore Father of Pashtuns is a term usually used for Qais Abdur Rashid. Who has four sons who formed the original four confederacies of Pashtuns. Bhittani, my tribe was one of the four.

Qais is supposed to be buried in the suliman mountains of Balochistan.

The reason why this is happening is because of Pakistan's policy of "restraint". The same reason why india attacked Pakistan in May 2025.

Most don't realize but Pakistan has a lot of power and clout that it NEVER uses. Because of this, foreigners especially afghans and indians see this as a sign of weakness and racial inferiority. This thinking is further reinforced when Pakistanis talk about "Muslim brotherhood" and "good relations" with india. What Pakistanis don't realise is that afghans, indians and other foreigners see Pakistani hospitality and goodness as a sign of weakness and racial inferiority. The Pakistani mind CANNOT comprehend this kind of mentality as Pakistanis THEMSELVES do not have this attitude. Naive Pakistanis think the rest of the world is as kind hearted, hospitable and good as we are but they are NOT. Pakistanis don't understand that the different races think and behave VERY differently to us. For nearly 5 DECADES Pakistan has been helping, sustaining and appeasing afghans to the point that they now believe it is their god-given racial right to take over Pakistan and murder 10s of 1000s of Pakistanis with impunity. Now that Pakistan is fighting back and smashing the afghans to smithereens, the afghan mind has gone into shock and CANNOT believe what is happening. They CANNOT fathom or comprehend that we are militarily and technologically FAR FAR superior to them that Pakistan could wipe afghanistan off the face of the universe with ease. Had Pakistan shown A FRACTION of this strength decades ago, this situation would NEVER have arisen. It is the same shock that the indians suffered in operation sindoor after their military defeat to Pakistan.

At this point I would be happy for Pakistan to nuke afghanistan and kill millions of them. I do not care if their women and children are killed too. For what the afghans have done to Pakistan, they MORE than deserve being nuked by us.

Pakistanis need to GET OUT of the attitude of "Mulsim/Islamic brotherhood" or "good relations" with india. NONE of this works and it ALWAYS gets used against Pakistan at the cost of our people and nation.

We showed too much restraint when indians were launching drones across Pakistan Punjab. There is a limit to everything and we cannot keep talking g about peace, a time comes to launch missiles back at your enemies.

we should have been ready. unfortunately it seems we were not, how many soldiers have attained Martyrdom? as DG ISPR (23 confirmed) and there are many casualties which will come out . do we realize these are more than Indian attack on Pakistan in May-25.

we should have moved assets on priority before hand. atleast reinforcement of Border post should have been done.

then comes the question of Afghan army movement if it was tracked the why it was not attacked pre-emptively.

today and tomorrow and day after tomorrow we are burying our shaheeds. then some tough decisions and retrospection is required.

The nature of attack is different in both scenarios.

What Afghanistan should have realized is that Pakistan thoroughly slapped back a militarily larger country (India) earlier in May so if a militarily weaker country (Afghanistan) attacks it, the response will be ten fold. Miscalculation on Afghanistan's part, however India knew well how Pakistan would respond when provoked by Afghanistan.

Secondly, this war has become boots on the ground scenario which many members here on PDF wanted to avoid. Afghanistan posts were physically captured by own troops. This isnt an exchange of missile and drones from both sides which occurred with India which was a technology dependent war to a large extent.

Thirdly, Pakistan was anticipating a surge in attacks when Indian and Afghanistan FM meeting was set up. In fact an attack from Indian side seemed to be on the cards, however that attack came from the west instead of the east for now.

The sad think is that Pakistan has MORE THAN enough clout and power should we wish to use it but the Pakistani mentality of hospitality, kindness and good nature is what prevents us. We don't have the killer instinct and efficiency of the Scandinavian or East Asian nations. This NEEDS to change if we are to prosper.

No need to invade Afghanistan, have a buffer zone 20 miles within its borders. Ask people to leave. Anything that moves within it just kill it.
