The Punjab government on Thursday said it will recommend to the federal government that a ban be imposed on the Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).

The development came as Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired an “extraordinary meeting” on the province’s law and order situation, during which “historic decisions were made to establish the state’s writ and supremacy of the law”, a statement issued by her office said.

Whilst I am generally guarded against government overreach into political expression - for me TLP is insidious and represents a dangerous element in Pakistan that has used this platform to carry out multiple known and god knows how many murders which have been labelled as "Extra-Judicial" killings and forgotten about, they have been linked to targeting of minorities, silencing those who oppose the often abused blasphmy laws in Pakistan ( in fact me just saying this would make me Wajibul katal).

They are linked to the arson attack on the church in Jaranwala.
