These people are barbarians. Pakistan has no other choice but to establish a buffer zone within Afghan territory.

Talk won’t change anything the real test will be on the ground.
First, there should be peace if there isnot then we’ve already seen the Taliban running in the past two days.

Good post as always Gary.
just wondering, if the Waziristan border is still very porous and people can just come and go as they please? Or did you guy had a beat on it now?

Because I can tell you a story, when i was in Afghanistan 05/06 when the TTP is hosting the Taliban fighters in the region., Taliban came out of the border and attacked us during the night, and melted back to the Pakistani side of the border when they were done with hitting our base in the area. I remember there is a lone tree in the mountain on the Pakistani side of the border, and Taliban fighters will stand under that tree in the morning and wave at us when we are patrolling the border, and they are laughing at talking and just watching us. And we can't do anything about that.

ROFL...

Border is fenced and patrolled but you will know it is a treacherous terrain - hard to police that length of land with 100% coverage - the chances of a small agile force being able to infiltrate can never be ruled out.

Technical surveillance and all those planned forts providing anchors.
