Is this India's backyard or Pakistan's ? Couldn't find Deoband on our map.

Yes, I know where Deoband is. In fact I have been there- the town, not the Madrasa. The point is that the Afghans who are there maybe as devout as the Afghans in your backyard, but don't have ready access to weaponry and military training as the ones in your backyard have. As far as radicalisation goes, you don't Afghans to be physically present for that. Internet Zindabad!

In my view, having listened to everyone’s opinions both here and elsewhere, this was meant to be a regime change operation. It’s highly likely that Trump was promised Bagram Airbase and access to Afghanistan’s rare minerals. Unfortunately for the planners, things didn’t go as planned and the Taliban survived.

Most probably, Turkey convinced both parties to step back and not take this any further. Now we can expect things to go back to normal. The Taliban may make some effort to get rid of any TTP/BLA operating in their country. Or let Pakistan do it. In return, Pakistan will allow trade as before. So, looks like we’re going to go back to the status quo.

People hoping for capturing Afghan territory or killing large numbers of people may be disappointed. I’m hoping that Trump doesn’t do to Sharif what he did to Modi once he finds out he isn’t getting the goodies he was promised.

Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire following intensive peace negotiations in Doha, Qatar, according to Reuters reporting on an announcement made by Qatar's foreign ministry early Sunday.

Representatives from both nations, led by Afghan Defense Minister Mullah Muhammad Yaqoob and Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, engaged in talks mediated by Qatar and Turkey on Saturday. The agreement extends a temporary ceasefire that began Wednesday.

Qatar's foreign ministry stated that both countries agreed to hold follow-up meetings in the coming days to ensure the ceasefire's sustainability and verify its implementation.

Why It Matters

The ceasefire represents a critical diplomatic breakthrough in the worst violence between the neighboring countries since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan in 2021.

Recent clashes killed dozens and wounded hundreds, marking a dangerous escalation in cross-border tensions. The agreement offers a potential pathway to de-escalation in a region already facing significant humanitarian and security challenges.

President Donald Trump previously suggested he may look to intervene to help bring peace to the region, having worked on other peace deals in recent months.

I would like to differ. If Pakistan is in fact ready to go for a Turkish-type solution of creating a buffer zone and putting the refugees there under a make-shift government by them, then better to tell all the concerned parties face-to-face. The presence of the Turkish intelligence Chief during the negotiation, as shown in the picture released from Doha, should be ringing the alarm bells in Dilli....

Yk Pakeys are retarted when one guy is saying Pakistan bombed Afghanistan because of promises to trump not knowing that Afghan proxies were popping more than a dozen or so FC+Army men of ours a day
While the other wants to literally nuke a neighboring muslim country, not knowing that his country was built as a homeland for persecuted muslims, the nuclear program was financed as "Islamic" bomb
Same country whose whole PR is based on a Muslim identity have rabid nationalists calling for a nuclear holocaust
Our verbal diarrhea all over SM is putting even Indians to shame

Pakistan and Afghanistan cannot afford to go to war . This will only benefits the enemy of muslims like America israel india. Pakistan leadership need to be wary of America government and their false promises . The America govt is puppet of Israel who have deep ties with india.

Muslim countries should also recognise the current Afghanistan government and openly support and work with them.

Our Nuke umbrella is for those muslim countries who respects Pakistan's sovereignty and When the other "muslim" country has harbored TTP BLA shaytaans for 20 years and been killing our soldiers and civilians then they only deserve our nuke umbrella without the umbrella.

Pardon my ignorance, what is the significance of Turkish Intel Chief?? ISI Chief was ALSO there obviously not in the picture. Are you saying Turkish Chief has some sort of a trump card?? I highly doubt it.

we don't want to , we are not warmongers like Israel or India , but the current afghani government is making it very hard . we cant just sit while your government sends loads of suicide bombers and terrorists every week , publicly say they don't accept Durand , and your leaders showing casing maps of "greater" Afghanistan (which is what India does btw ) .

Pakistan and Afghanistan cannot afford to go to war .

Then the Bas.... taliban should do somthing about the TTP launching attacks into Pakistan from inside Afghanistan.

And the Durand Line is here to stay - any wet-dreams of an "imaginary" boundaries will remain wet-dreams.
