Pakistan International Arlines (PIA) : News / Updates

Skardu is served by Airbus A320 aircraft these days by PIA and Airblue.

Hopefully the B777s come back to full complement soon as the international network is highly getting affected due to lack of all the B777s available to PIA

Out of 12 there's only 3-4 B777s active
2 x B777200LR used for Canada are still in maintenance

The airline’s roots can be traced back to pre-partition days and the formation of Orient Airways.

The airline started Super Constellation services between Karachi and Dacca in June 1954, and the following February the type operated the carrier’s first truly international service to London.

Needing to bridge the capacity gap between its Douglas DC-3s and its Super Constellations, PIA signed a contract for three Vickers Viscounts in May 1958. The first aircraft was delivered in the following January.

My heart cries watching these photos. One of the more popular photo of a flight attendant - I do not know her name - she died in an air crash. PIA seems like leads the world in air crashes - which makes me violently angry at the corruption and incompetency of the company and Pakistan.

That's right! You had been following my thread about my recent trip to Pakistan where I posted some pics from Skardu. The experience with PIA was great. Airblue--didn't get to fly with them despite booking as they last minute cancelled.

sigh the old PIA was soo pristine and excel what has it become now so sad :(

Pakistan itself was much better in the pre early 1980s decades. Overpopulation and the involvement in the Soviet war on Afghanistan ruined all that.

Anyway, my own pic of my PIA flight from Karachi to Skardu from August 2025 arriving at the Skardu airport. The flight experience was great! A senior flight attendant sat with me when we were passing by Nanga Parbat mountain and pointed toward various high peaks.
