Pakistan's GDP is $400 billion (probably less, due to government posting false statistics), it's last year budget was $62 billion, and official defense budget of $10 billion, with it unofficially being between $15-$20 billion (90% goes to just paying salaries and maintaining current equipment).

What money does Pakistan have to fund such a project?

Project Azm failed due to both lack of resources, and not enough knowledge and industry. PFX is more reasonable in its goals, but even that's looking like it won't achieve what it promised.
its your country problem that your gdp isnt 10 time al least beager if you adopt capitalisem and free market princepals i think every country that is over 100 milion people should be able to develop fighter

stupidity is trying to make 5th gen when you cant even make a 4+ gen and deliver it to your AF .

nuclear tech is way more simpler than 5th gen fighters , and to your point we tried to do it with project AZM , realized how stupid it is and stopped to look for other solutions and focus on jf17 .
agreed

and agreed too

jet egine tech is like rocket science. yes compared to that Nuclear tech is not in that league. (yes BUT in coming)

BUT, the pesistence will pay off, decades of work on Tejas and despite time and resources lost, there is a vast in house knowledge built by Indians as well which cant be dismissed with Samosa slang, to be honest re AZM, there was lack of clarity, resources and things we can only speculate, so an off the shelf solution was taken.
we need to get the habit of getting our stuff done ourselves because it will be a stupidity to let others leverage their relationship with us.

pakistan no need to invest in any project 240 milion people country should develop alone like turkey is doing

Pakistan already follows a capitalist, free market system. It has an independent central bank, and follows international banking rules.

Its failing precisely because it follows unchecked capitalist laws.

What are you talking about?

The ability rests on private sector to innovate. Government cannot throw money at something and make it work. Money will be fed to some foreign consultancies that swallow the money and gives nothing in return. Also joint manufacturing is not an option, everyone is greedy and don't want the other to develop anything independently. So when someone offer partnership in "joint development" of critical technologies they are looking to derail it. (Especially true with Western nations).

Increasingly Indians on this forum are starting threads simply to flame bait.

Everyone knows the OP and the author of the article are jokes. Worse then social media.

We allow it and it descends.

People are put off not by us banning people, but by alowing garbage on the forum. Recent days it has got really bad.

May obviously scarred a lot of people on here badly

Not possible in the near future. We don't have the capacity and are too much tied to Western equipment. Being not under major sanctioned made the Indian govt complacent. You don't have it, you can always import kinda thinking. Only recently the government began to take notice it. Maybe too late, maybe not only time will tell.

I can respect the ambition, but considering the track record, by the time the prototype fir the AMCA is ready, Pakistan will have multiple squadrons of 5th gen, and will actively be looking into 6th gen.

Right now
You have
12 J10 soon 25 eventually
150 Thunders
68 mostly old block 30 falcons
50 odd mirages and F7

That's 300 planes you need to scrap
You won't do that on ten years definitely maybe not even 20 years
Based on past performance

Amca will be here by 2040 that's 15 years away

the Indian aviation industry is learning a lot. doing much more in house than what Pakistan can only manage to assemble or repair at the most. the jokes will subside soon.

Most of Indian technologies in LCA is european. Swiss French German Italian consultants have contributed alot which is labeled Indian R&D. without west and Russia every Indian so called Indigenous product dies. Their Dhruv helicopter is pretty much German.
If Pakistan had bigger economy and higher defense budget they would have also hired europeans.

Swiss ALR Piranha (1980s light fighter concept).
