Type 055: 21x180m, 13,000 tons displacement
Type 052D: 18x156m, 7,500 tons displacement

The size of 055 is astonishing.

not needed that numbers of Type-55 is way way more powerful than AB destroyers 25-30 are enough along with Type 52 series/ Type 51 series and Type 54 series of frigates, there is no need to have such large amount of Type 55

lol, does defense is related to population lol don't be too stupidChina has a bigger population than the US. A bigger population needs more ships.
Type 51 series had all retired, you are behind times.not needed that numbers of Type-55 is way way more powerful than AB destroyers 25-30 are enough along with Type 52 series/ Type 51 series and Type 54 series of frigates, there is no need to have such large amount of Type 55
The propulsion has been hinted at; the next generation 42 MW gas turbines, and knowing China it will probably be coupled with IEP, to future proof the design for high power demanding future laser weapons. There are rumors of it using a new propulsion system, and the new AESA equipped variant of 1130 CIWS (which we've seen on the Type-003 carrier)
No, they are not, if they are retired replacement should be Type 52 series of Destroyers which are much cheaper than Type 55Type 51 series had all retired, you are behind times.
My bad, 051C and 051B are still in service, but the original 051 series had all retired. No, they are not, if they are retired replacement should be Type 52 series of Destroyers which are much cheaper than Type 55
Ok, but replacement should be Type 52 series rather than Type 55 which is super expensive compare to Type 52My bad, 051C and 051B are still in service, but the original 051 series had all retired.
With 6 Carriers until 2035 and at least another 6/8 amphibious assault ships (Type 075\076) projected, the Type 055 will easily surpass the 2 to 3 dozen units, considering that they are the basic escort platforms for those main vessels and therefore the demand will be high. The production of the second batch of Type-055s is ongoing. Construction of at least 2-4 ships will begin this year. They may order a new batch when the 16-ship order is completed. Maybe they will increase the number to 20-30.
