4 New PAF Air Defence Systems

Well, with UAV’s (drones) becoming more common and cheaper, I guess there could be a need for such systems, especially in anti -drone/ terror scenarios. I think if Pakistan had been moving -away from gun-based short-range anti-air missiles is a mistake. Missiles can be defeated , bullets cant. Gun base platform are so relevant in a modern war vs drones etc . 🇵🇰 👍

What about the barage of anti drone systems previously shown in ISPR video, were they operated by Army only??

See? Do you agree now that air defence is still useful?

Any advances is a laser-based system? Or is it too sci-fi at this stage?

Lessons learnt from Sindoor quickly and operationalised as quickly!
All these 4 AD systems are short range, wonder if PAF or PA itself are in talks to order more HQ-9B's or some other medium to long range AD systems.

I reckon that PAF thinks that the Indians are not coming anywhere near PAF airspace anytime soon, India may focus on long range SOW deployment outside the range of the PL15E in the near term until they can get their airforce fixed.

Yeah but we need some decent air coverage within 50-100km inside india if PAF plans on attacking Indian Airbases with fighters, we don't have a lot of stand-off weapons, we have Fateh-series but they are not enough.

It always comes down to money. ie more HQ-9B or more J-35AE(/J10CE's/JF17C) ? And Pakistan is doesn't have that. btw - if PAF or PA funding/owning the HQ-9B's ? Whose funding pot is that from?

That old enemy of PA/PAF/PN the "Money". But i hope they do find some kind of balance to keep the funds for new jets (when necessary) and for Air defense systems.

You can argue for the wars of the future, air power is the most significant arm for Pakistan, more than the Army.

The ranking of need and important is Airforce, Navy and then Army..

The problem is that the Army is in charge and always in control of the money, I can't see them giving up any more than they have. It is that age old problem of not being able to match the "threat" to the "funding" given old "service" rivalries. I know there is now a combined chief at the top of the services, but that position will always be from the Army and you can certain they don't understand, or can see the value of the Airforce over the service they have served in.

There will be nip/tuck here there from one service to another etc but not the radical change that Pakistan needs.

I hope our babus understand the need to have a strong AF and Navy, I mean Army is important as most of our conflict is COIN, and insurgencies which need the strong land army, if we just start carpet bombing KPK/Baluchistan it will give the Youtiyas more reasons to do propaganda, hence the need for strong land forces. But Conflict with India, and providing security to our Habibi's in the Middle East, we need a strong AF/Navy for sure.

I would argue that the army can be cut by some percentage, 10/15% and the air force should be doubled in size for the threats that Pakistan now faces.
