500th F-35 has been delivered to the US Air Force

I still can't believe he does these massive photo-ops in front of a Boeing plane instead of a Chinese Comac. This is only going to raise eyebrows in future history books.

Step by step, why in a hurry? China won't throw away those Boeings just because they are American planes, as long as they are still within their shelf life, why wasting money for new ones?

The UK MoD is know for gold plating projects and for requesting strange changes to projects that make the projects none viable. The apache procurement is an example of that, chinooks etc. I won’t list them all..
Well, I sort of understand why they want to have the American stuff European capable, what I don't understand is why they didn't start the process earlier. They didn't do anything until the first F-35B was in the Brits hand, which they had 18 months before that to figure out how to carry the MBDA system on it....

The F-47 has gone into production. So the USAF maybe moving ahead, even if the F-35 is experiencing setbacks.

okay so the direct energy weapon of block 4 is delayed due to the engine upgrade not being ready.

We should just throw everything away?

PDF celestials believe that their stealth fighters are as equal to US in technology and capability therefor delays and software issues means US has forgotten to built fighters but what these small minded chinos forget is that the F-35 is not a one trick pony like their j-20 and j-35. US can easily have an all stealth fighter fleet if US were satisfied with just air to air and basic tech like radar, IRST and datalink which is what the j20 and j35 are. F-35 is an all domain weapons system with capabilities PDF celestials have no concept of understanding. celestials like to ignore F-35 capabilities because they don't understand a lot of the capabilities. For instance the F-35 has electronic virus capability able to attack IADS with a computer virus now celestials in here dismiss such capability as sorcery because of their lacking.

Who said throw away?

I suppose you think China is too poor to spend a few bucks turning a "100% indigenously developed" C919 into a Presidential plane?

Maybe Air China thinks they are junk so they don't have any in their fleet to transport Xi.

While there are already finished versions to use, why spending more money to change?

No, the narrative is that Xi takes an "ordinary" Air China plane.

But we know that is not true. It is a specialized and secured plane.

If it was just an ordinary plane the government would hand a C919 to Air China and he'd be taking that instead.

Lol, that's your narrative, we Chinese are practical people, don't waste money everywhere like you guys do. Now , can you go back to the topic of this thread?

 He uses tail number B-2479...that's a specialized/hardened 747 plane.

The B-2479 was delivered to Air China on December 29, 2014. According to information from adtb.aero, it underwent VIP configuration modifications in Hamburg, Germany, between May 15 and July 10, 2016.

It's really scary how the average Chinese person is unaware of some basic facts.

I've been following Lockheed-Martin's failures with the F-35 AND the F-22 for roughly 15 years. Neither of these aircraft have seen actual aerial combat. Thus, neither have any "combat kills" as of yet. Both platforms have become the most costly aircraft programs in history. Not just costly, but much more costly than anticipated. Then there are production issues concerning delays and lack of oversight. Now Lockheed-Martin is trying to make the F-22 relevant again with retrofitting various components such as Helmet Mounted Displays which weren't widespread at the time of its development and the size of the canopy wouldn't allow for such a device anyway. It seems that with the F-35, Lockheed-Martin is constantly play catch-up just to keep aircraft available. Between these two programs, Lockheed-Martin has become one big cluster f@ck of cost overruns, production delays, malfunctions, and costly accidents. A lemon by any other name ……………

Both those planes have been used in air-to ground combat while other's "successes" have done squat other than showing up at airshows for pretty pictures.
