Is this still a big deal in America? I was reading on Reddit about someone actually being upset this week. I don't get it, if your friends of family weren't directly affected, that’s different - but if not, isn't that a bit much?

Like in the UK they still have remembrance day to mark the end of WW1. To most people it's irrelevant now but they do the minutes silence out of respect for everyone else. However we don't really have days to remember various terrorist attacks that have occurred.

Also is it US wide or more of a NY thing? I can imagine 3000 people dying in a single City will have had widespread impact on New York, even in a city that size, everyone probably still knows someone who was affected?

To some it is a big deal. I personally know NYPD who worked 9-11 at the Towers and the aftermath.

So yeah, it's still a big deal for them. And, the families were affected by it as well. Just as we have members here who have been impacted by the war in Gaza as well as with Iran.

So for those folks at least, it will always be a big deal.

It now looks like the end of American civilization and the start of the Chinese Century.

All empires come to an end, and that point has been reached for the USA. The US Empire has burnt through its power and wealth far far faster than any other empire in our history but then that is what happens when you waste your money fighting wars in the middle east.

You can argue it was this incident specifically, and the follow wars that followed from this incident that the end of the beginning of the American Empire's power, and the beginning of the end of the empire with the Chinese about to take over. The Americans spent some 6 trillion fighting all manner of unnecessary wars

A lot of money that could have been spent infrastructure in the USA, and schools and education etc...
