A diminished India

Sarcasm detected.

But the British were exhausted after world war 2. They just wanted to leave.

Bhakts think Modi freed India. No different
If you had read history, or had the slightest inclination to be engaged in studying such matters, you might have known that assigning a single factor to such vast events as the coming of South Asia to freedom from colonial rule is shallow. That is why I agreed so cordially with you when you said so bravely that it was not Gandhi who freed India.

Of course he didn't. His political vision and leadership was one of the factors. The fright the British got when portions of the soldiery joined Subhash Bose was another; driving this fear home was a third, the Indian naval mutiny. The exhaustion of Britain herself during the war was a fourth. The alienation of the working classes and middle class professionals in Britain from that part of their middle classes jointly engaged in colonial administration with the upper classes was yet another.

You might find a profitable few afternoons if you were to give a little more time to the history of India than might appear in the annals of the WhatsApp University.

Elaborate.

I am not as smart as you.

Also a detailed post regarding your thoughts on Gandhi would be appreciated
I am here as a member posting, having doffed my Moderator hat for the time being.
You will have to do your own research and reading.

Agreed. But the Congress was a safety valve to prolong the stay of the British. And communalists were British agents too.

Funny thing is that I am not on any WhatsApp groups. I prefer Telegram.

Another thing - like the Sanghis, Congress and other parties have their WhatsApp universities too.

Like Doc said let's forget Gandhi, let's focus on Dhandos. And their negative impact on India

Why you speaking to this fool as if hes a representative of the Pakistan masses? You portray an image of you sitting in a Norwegian shiny state of prosperity where you pull $100 notes off the trees? Look in your own back yard and see - we all have shite to sort out - some more than others.
Hell yesterday 1 of the girls got a cringe-worthy call from a call center demanding credit card details or they will blow thier computer up.
Cringe friggin worthy bro..

No I am just talking to him as just a member here who happens to be Pakistani. Whites are pretty politically correct and I understand them and their mannerisms and facial and speech cues quite well.

Most of them do understand the history between us but their minds are incapable of thinking like us and appreciating what we really feel about each other. They think of us and our issues as some sort of friendly tiff that will somehow one day get magically resolved and we will all sit around the campfire with marshmallows singing kumbayya.

On the other side I will have a sanghi going on an on about rapists, terrorists, brutal, how everything from south east Asia to Tibet to Iran is ours etc etc. And I will look behind the blank placid faces of the goras and know exactly what they are thinking behind it.

Bottom line is there is extreme cringiness on both sides.

Iran struggled too, the Pak generals would melt at the thought of being excluded from the west.
Irani’s sitting on top of their game bhai……they the only power now in the greater ME. US will sell Israel to Iran down da road as a distressed asset which has become a liability now. You don’t understand what is going on no?

Don’t need to be polite…..tell him like it is……the masses are two chuttki away from reversion either which way…..Like it’s always been the case.

Good ghaad these guys don’t get it and are nervous about the reality.

It is an embarrassment.

I apologize bro.

Personally I believe goras understand Islam as a "serious religion" even if not the tenets a lot more than Hinduism, which most have views of that are stereotypes and cliches and a bit of a Yoga, meditation, ayurveda, temples, idols, dancing, chicken tikka type poorly understood amalgam.

To top that most goras are not very religious anymore. Or at least the educated professional white collar lot. Yes they go to church and have their turkey etc. But the raw passion and hatred of the subcontinent is outside their sphere of thought.

I frankly would just prefer to keep our internal stuff internal. Its embarrassing in company that does not give a shit one way or the other.

Just because they have issues with radical Islam, does not automatically make them Hindu lovers. Even their views of Islam is that of a people who hit them. Not ours. Or Pakistanis. Remote as we are to them.

Ye but when engaging with a 12 year old - expect to get 12 year old answers. Have to agree we have plenty cringe on both sides but lately our cringe has gone up a notch.

Almost completely agree.

My subjective experience Europeans don't really care to understand too deeply the layers of difference and bickering, it can seem tiresome or just messy and inconsequential, that goes for the middle east too

Hindu Muslim

Shia Sunni

That's enough

If they happen to have Indian or Pakistan friends that can give them insight

In terms of country perception, well don't need to dwell

Now they are, but they had to suffer decades of being a pariah, they still are.

They have the stomach for it, Pak generals don't

You really need to go back to school. There was the Congress before 1920, and the Congress after 1920.

@vsdoc

When you write about being patient and helpful to this new generation, how do you propose to deal with the filled up sanitary tank that they carry around in place of structured learning?
