I am astonished at the change in the juvenile attitude that Rahul Gandhi was used to present. I am thankful for the Congress continuing to remain above communalism, notwithstanding their stupid flirtations with soft Hindutva. They still don't have a compelling agenda; just mentioning unemployment and the need to keep law and order don't amount to a programme.

I'd say, gazing at my navel, that it's split 1/3 each way, between visceral fear of what the Sangh Parivar is doing to our country, 1/3 for the residual values that the Congress represents, discounting for the moment the abhorrence of their moral laxity, and 1/3 sheer astonishment at Rahul's unexpected maturity.

Even my support for the Congress has evolved.

First it was pure existentialism fear and despair.

Now there is a lot of confidence and moral vindication.
